"This is not accessible to the public. Very disappointing"

"Beautiful beach! Perfect for kids."
"Crane's Neck and Crane's Neck Beach are very scenic, but of difficult access by the general public. It is a secret likely to remain a secret. A several-mile shoreline hike from the public West Meadow Beach is healthy, but requires some stamina, low tide, and fair weather. Access via trails from the Flax Pond Laboratory is constrained by limited parking (permit required via a defunct or inoperative address) and muddy or swampy conditions on the shoreward end of the Flax Pond Bridge. The signage at SUNY-SB facilities / mansion in the area are not at all welcoming. No parking is allowed along any roads in the vicinity. My one-star rating signifies that this area is worth a visit only if one can undertake a long hike or be a VIP guest of either a SUNY-SB don or a local proprietor and peer of Jay Gatsby."
