Delawanna Station 209 Delawanna Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07014

"Dellawanna Train Station, its' name a mash up of the names Delaware and Lackawanna, the previous name of the railroad, serves what is now the Dellawanna section of Clifton, on the extreme southeast corner of the city. A century and a half ago when the station opened, it served not only passenger service, but also was a hub stop for freight, particularly agricultural goods from the then still mostly agrarian up county and upstate areas. Goods would be loaded on wagons and transported to the nearby boat docks on the Passaic River, where the present day Route 21 is, for transport to downstate markets. Today, the freight service is long gone, and the passenger service no longer follows the original route, several other routes having been discontinued and/or consolidated into the current one, but train service is still very lively at this station. Please note that parking is at a premium here, with only a tad over 100 spaces available. The station also is not wheelchair accessible."
