"Passaic Train Station is the only remaining commuter railroad station in the city of Passaic. Originally opened in 1870 as part of the Boonton Branch of the Delaware and Lackawanna Railroad, it became the sole conveyor of passenger traffic when the original Main Line, run by the Erie (later Erie Lackawanna) Railroad, ended operations in 1963. That station depot was torn down to make room for the current municipal parking lots which run down the current center divide on Main Avenue in the downtown area. The current station serves what is now the Main Line with two tracks, one in each direction. Parking can be a bit skittish at times because of the limited number of spaces, even though there is parking on both sides of the station, so if you're traveling on weekdays, you may have to walk a distance from where you park. The station is also not wheelchair accessible, as there is no platform level entry onto trains, and trying to get from one side to the other is made by wheelchair, only by going down to the corner, going under the trestle, and then back up a hill in a most circuitous route. There is a plus here, as there is considerable cover in case of rain or snow."
