"Zero customer service. Me and a friend stood at the register waiting for assistance for 5 minutes, and there were only 2 customers in the store."
"The owner was nice. The prices are wayy too inflated for the services rendered. My daughter asked for butterfly locks, she got them but they were so stiff and would not lay down. Owner said the moose would help which it did not. She was kind enough to say if my daughter didn't like it I could come back and she would fix it. My daughter was not comfortable going back and was crying on the way home. I ended up fixing it myself by adding more hair to weigh it down. Cost was 250."
"This place is a 10/10 braiding spot. It was my first experience and and a great one. Her prices are reasonable and very good for the amazing work she does on hair. I would definitely recommend coming here."
"You can have a great atmosphere, a beautiful place, good reviews and even a great reputation with your regulars… but none of that matters when as a new customer, I walked out feeling lied to by the shop owner. My experience: I had a trusted family member inquire for prices on my behalf because I’m new to LI. There is text message proof of exactly what I wanted. When my family member was at the shop, the day before my appointment - due to her own bad experience - she decided to confirm the pricing for me. The owner gave my family member the same price as originally discussed for the specific style I wanted, including hair. Due to my family member’s bad experience - I almost didn’t visit this shop. The only reason I showed up, is because I was in need to get my hair braided and didn’t know where else to go in such short notice. When I showed up and started working with one of the girls to pick out my hair - she quickly asked, did you discussed the style with the owner. I said, yes - the owner was aware of what I wanted. I went back to my seat and the girl who was going to braid my hair talked to the owner about the style I want. The owner turned to me and said, that’s not what was discussed. She was never told the size of the braids, and she was told a different hair length that what I asked for. The owner was quick to add an additional $60 to what I requesting and said “nobody does what you want for that price”. She then deflected to saying - “I never saw a picture of what you wanted. The conversation about your price was yesterday, and she said you wanted something different”. A braider spoke up to confirm what my family member had discussed with her and the price given but the owner ignored her and said, “well if you want that specific style, it’s going to be the additional $60 - as a starting price”. Now, I trust my family member enough and have a screenshot with proof of what the owner was told I wanted. So, this owner was either lying or she was not attentive to a new customer’s requests. Lack of attention to detail in a business like this is of poor taste. Either way, I didn’t feel like she was someone to be trusted. If she would’ve been up front about the price… I would not be writing this review. As someone who doesn’t mind paying A LOT to get what she wants… this is not the place to give my money to ever again. I had to settle for a different style to avoid conflict."
"My Mom and I have been going to Cynthia's for years. She is open during Covid! If you want to avoid a lonng wait, I recommend u go as soon as they open at 10am. REGARDLESS, if u have an appt or not, you want to get there as soon as they open. This is not Harlem, so the prices are " this is the only nice professional black hair salon in Suffolk prices"."
