"Real nice place to take a stroll and enjoy some nature. Lots of different birds around to watch. Fishing options. Small parking lot for a few cars. Nice place for sunrise"
"TLDR: Hunting land; wear bright colors/hunter orange regardless of season; leashes for dogs required! I took my dog here for some off-leash walking recently (April 2024). As we were leaving the parking area to start off down a trail, two individuals in a car on the road asked if we were leaving. They had purchased a new gun and were going to try it out. I told them I had just gotten there, so they considerately moved on to a different spot. This was unsettling to me, though, because there were parking spots/trailheads on either end of this trail. If the two people with the shotgun had gone to the opposite parking lot, found it empty, and started their target practice, my dog and I could have been accidentally shot. I contacted the DEC to ask about safety precautions. I spoke with a ranger and it turns out that target practice is not permitted on this land and dogs ARE REQUIRED TO BE LEASHED unless they are specifically being used for hunting or hunting training (though it sounds like this training must occur in specific areas. Where those specific areas are, I have no idea!) This keeps the dogs safe from wandering into trapping traps and from wildlife. The ranger also said to wear bright, fluorescent colors like those worn for visibility when hunting. All this to say, it’s a lovely spot for hiking! But there was a lot about safety that I wish I had known beforehand. Wanted to share it here. Be safe, y’all!"
"Love three rivers, hunting lands so no leash law, great place for the dogs to get some good exercise both during hunting season and off-season"
"Such a great place to get away with Family and friends to spend the day walk one trail or all trails discover new life and make the trail experience an adventure"
"I spent a number of spring summer and fall days here. It is a slice of paradise. Hardly ever a soul there. I spoke with a number of B-ville natives and they didn't even know this place was here. The wildlife is so diverse. Every kind of wildlife upstate can offer. Deer foxes beaver birds and frogs. I miss this place so badly."
