Nick + Sons Bakery 892 Lorimer Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222
About the Business
Welcome to Nick Sons Bakery, a charming local gem nestled in the heart of Brooklyn at 892 Lorimer Street, New York. Our bakery is more than just a place to buy bread; it's a community hub where the warmth of freshly baked goods meets the warmth of human connection.
Inspired by a life-changing experience in Iceland, founder Nicholas Heavican discovered the magic of baking at Braud & Co., where a simple loaf of bread sparked a passion that would transcend oceans. With no prior baking experience, Nick embarked on an apprenticeship that taught him not only the craft of baking but also the power of community that a bakery can cultivate.
Upon returning to Williamsburg, Nick realized his neighborhood was missing this sense of community and delicious artisanal bread. With determination and a true New York hustle spirit, he juggled his day job while renting pizza kitchens by night to bake fresh bread for his community.
At Nick Sons Bakery, we pride ourselves on creating a nostalgic experience reminiscent of the bakeries from days gone by, as one endearing grandma from the Jersey Shore fondly put it, "We haven’t had a bakery like this since I was a kid." Our menu features a selection of lovingly crafted breads and pastries that are sure to delight your taste buds and warm your heart.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, we invite you to stop by, enjoy a bite, and become part of our bakery family. At Nick Sons, every loaf is a story, and we can't wait to share ours with you.

"Nick+sons new space is très magnifique!!! The croissants are fabulous as always. And better news - the zatar is available everyday instead of only weekends!! Gorgeous art on the walls and an open / airy space. Come visit !! Today I had the plain croissant, the zatar croissant and the focaccia sandwich with mortadella and mixed veggies. Come visit them!"
"The croissant (4/5) used to be immaculate, but now it's a bit stale, the crust isn't as crunchy (doesn't have as many layers and was flatter) and the inside while still tasty doesn't have that full buttery taste. Still good tho. The apple danish (4/5) was good: flaky, sweet, and decent apple flavor. The ramp danish (2/5) was like a brick."
"Fantastic bakery. Sweet and savory pastries are both excellent. Especially the croissants - shatter-crispy butter crust with tender interior and rich fillings. Zaatar cheddar croissant and jalapeno cheddar biscuit are absurdly good. Line forms early on weekend mornings, and is all outside. Strong contender in the Librae / Radio Bakery tier. Highly recommend!"
"Wow. Incredible pastries, probably some of the best I’ve had. Be forewarned tho, I think you’re all but guaranteed a line when you go. If you have some time to spare tho, I think it’s worth the wait. The chocolate croissant was AMAZING, and the cinnamon roll was really good too (which is saying a lot for someone who really only likes them when they have frosting on them… this didn’t and was still delicious!). I don’t think they have places to sit and eat inside from what I could see? When I went in the morning, there was a line outside and you went right inside the door when it was your turn to order. Heads up - they apparently run out of things very quickly! So get there earlier if you want to be guaranteed what you want!"
