Reviews of modcup coffee
"Best coffee I have found in Hoboken! As someone who lived in Seattle and NYC my coffee is very important to me and I had not found a good coffee shop as of it! Really delicious. Yes there is no seating. The display case might not be the best, but the croissants and baked goods are delicious and I am happy to take my amazing coffee to go! So happy this place is here. Yum yum!"
"The latte I got was better than some other places around town, but I will likely not return frequently. First, there are no tables or real seating here. I don't like coffee shops that don't have seating. If I'm paying over $5 for a drink, I want to sit there and enjoy it. I know there's a park across the street, but if I wanted to sit in the park with my coffee, I could go anywhere else. Next, there are credit card transaction fees. I wouldn't mind this if I could sit. But not having a place to sit AND passing the cost of doing business to your customer tells me a clear message: you want our money and you want us to get out of there as fast as we can. Finally, there is a display of pastries, which look soggy and old. Nearly everything on display has a "sold out" sign on it. I went at 7:15 am - how are you sold out that early? Do you really have to display these if you don't have them for sale? There's also a small ramp that they put on the stairs outside to pretend to be accessible. It's way to see to actually be helpful, and it blocks a significant part of the stairs, which makes the entire entrance unsafe."
"Excellent coffee from JC, and now you can get it right in Hoboken! Has both great classic espresso drinks and also well-balanced house-made syrups. Not a lot of seating but there are a couple places to perch, and it has a bathroom, I know that's a make-or-break for some folks. It was only a matter of time until Modcup reached Hoboken, and I'm glad that time is now."
"Very laid back and bigger than their jersey city location so it's more spacious. And like their heights location they have a sitting area as well, but with cushions. It's located right across the street from the park"
"I wasn’t too familiar with lychee prior to trying the exotic offering. It was a cold brew of a lychee co-ferment coffee. It felt like… Like standing under a cascade of bombarded pulped lychee pelting your palette; Like that first sip of a icy-fruity soda on a summer day; Like if you took a bite out of a lemon & lime popsicle and let it melt on your tongue. As the ice melts in your cup, the fruity notes crescendo, mellowing out the acid tones and singing a whole new melody. The melody of the summer: lychee. No additives; just water & coffee."
