Located at 418 North 5th Street, our bakery has been a cornerstone of the community since 1924. Established on the corner of Davenport Avenue & N. 8th Street, we have been delighting our neighbors with the irresistible aroma of our brick oven hearth-baked bread for nearly a century.
At Paramount Bakeries, we are dedicated to preserving the time-honored baking techniques that have been passed down through generations. Our commitment to quality and detail is evident in every loaf we produce. We start with simple, high-quality ingredients and the finest water in the country, allowing our bread to develop its outstanding flavor naturally through an 18-hour cold-proofing process. This method ensures that our dough matures without the need for added sugars or artificial flavoring.
Our Italian-imported brick ovens are meticulously constructed to provide consistently crusty, evenly baked bread that captures the essence of traditional hearth baking. The result is a flavor and aroma that is truly unmatched.
We take pride in delivering our freshly baked bread to store fronts every morning, ensuring that our customers enjoy maximum freshness with every purchase. As a family-operated business, we are passionate about serving our community and are committed to maintaining our legacy of excellence for another 100 years.

"Just read the article about Paramount in the Star Ledger. 100 years, WOW! I’m obsessed with the semolina, ciabatta and Russian Rye. I didn’t know they use Paramount bread at Town Hall Deli—but now I get why those sandwiches are *so good* Congrats to the Paramount family on an awesome article! PS Love that the author pointed out Paramount is older (and in my opinion, SO MUCH tastier) than other popular NJ bread bakeries LOL"
"Just bought the Russian Rye from Walmart (who knew Walmart sold authentic-tasting rye bread) - it was delicious. We have been looking for old fashion Brooklyn rye from the 60's - 70's for a long time. The only other place is Russ and Daughters in Manhattan. This bread comes very close to the bread baked in the old Jewish bakeries in Sheepshead Bay. Please update your social media so people know where to buy the bread."
"What happened to your bread?!? It used to be so good and consistent, but now it’s becoming harder and harder not to find only partially risen, hard, or loaves that are much smaller than they used to be. Today picking through tons of loaves at the store there wasn’t a single good one. Please get it together, your bread was the best around for a while, but it’s getting harder to justify spending the extra money on what it’s become."
"Love the round Italian I would get at ShopRite in Hammonton NJ. We bought at least two loaves a week. Why is it no longer being sold there? Myself and numerous other customers are very disappointed. I’m giving 5 stars for the excellent bread. If I could give zero for it no longer being offered at the store I would. Where else around zip code 08037 is it sold?"
"I have been buying your rye, Italian round bread and the others for years with no problem. But this time, I got the Brick Oven Italian Round Bread and it was undercooked, soggy and went moldy in three days! I bought this loaf at the Shop Rite in Clark, NJ"
