About the Business
Welcome to By the Way Bakery, a charming haven nestled at 574 Warburton Avenue in the picturesque village of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Our bakery is a delightful blend of nostalgia and innovation, capturing the essence of an old-fashioned bakery where everything is lovingly crafted by hand, from scratch, in small batches.
At By the Way Bakery, we pride ourselves on creating delectable baked goods that are entirely gluten-free and dairy-free, and they're certified kosher too. Despite these dietary considerations, our treats are every bit as delicious—if not more so—than their conventional counterparts. Imagine biting into a blueberry muffin bursting with ripe blueberries, or savoring a lemon layer cake filled with homemade lemon curd. Our chocolate chip cookies, made with the finest Belgian chocolate, are sure to bring a smile to your face—a smile you can taste.
Our selection includes award-winning almond cookies, perfect-for-dipping biscotti, and indulgent fudge brownie cookies, among many other treats. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Linzer cookie filled with raspberry jam, a flourless chocolate truffle torte, or a delightful pumpkin muffin, our bakery has something to satisfy every craving.
We invite you to visit our adorable little shop to discover why so many people have fallen in love with our creations. For those who prefer to plan ahead, you can conveniently place your orders online for in-store pickup at any of our four locations.
By the Way Bakery is also proud to offer custom cakes for your special occasions, including weddings. Our cakes are crafted with care and can be designed to suit your unique vision. Please reach out to our custom cake team to explore the possibilities.

"We purchased our wedding cake through By the Way Bakery and were beyond pleased. They delivered it perfectly and on time. Helene was a delight to work with the whole time. Every guest loved the cake, even those without allergies. :)"
"My husband and I are both gluten free and knew part of our cake would need to be gluten free. We ended having By the Way make the cake for the entire wedding. Everyone couldn't believe the cake was gluten free and dairy free. Our only regret is not eating more of it on our wedding day . We cant wait to eat it for our 1 year anniversary"
"Super cute, small, gluten free and dairy free bakery with a couple of locations in NYC and one in Westchester. I've also seen their cake slices sold in Whole Foods in Manhattan. My favorites from here are the coconut cloud cake, and the brownie. I thought the cream puff was a bit disappointing since there was no cream inside... The raspberry bar also had a super delicious and fresh tasting raspberry filling, though it kind of fell apart as you were eating it."
"Exceptional gluten-free baked goods. Delicious with a great variety of options. We loved every pastry and you would never know they are gluten-free. Mom calls them “the best cupcakes ever”! Must visit and try these."
"Amazing pastries and cakes, that are GI friendly to the lactose intolerant (dairy free) and ones having trouble with gluten, while delicious and enjoyable for everyone's mouths with decent portions but above average prices as expected for specialty foods. We have had there brownies, chocolate chip muffins, coconut almond chocolate cookies, the chocolate truffle cake and chocolate vanilla sponge cake. All of them were very good. The chocolate truffle cake is pretty enjoyable if you like dark chocolate. The icing on the sponge cake is not very smooth but that is common when you don't use dairy."
