"Place is run by a circus nobody wants to do their job and I returned the car and they said I didn't after they sent me confirmation that the car was returned. The branch then tried to charge my credit card for it but luckily my card blocked it for fraud. Save your time and go somewhere else to rent a car not worth the hassle."

"Car rental is competent, but slow and with significant problems. One time (Jul. 25, 2024), I booked a 9:00 AM appointment, and the clerk was so slow that I didn't get to leave with the car until 9:47 AM. Another time (Jul. 28, 2024), the security official who provided me with the car in the morning was extremely impatient and demanded that I sign the rental form without letting me properly examine the car for scratches. I found him awfully rude. It's too bad that this Avis branch has a near-monopoly on the car rental in this Manhattan area. Otherwise I might have preferred to work with some other shop."

"Seamless car rental experience. We rented a car to drive to New Haven for the day. The car was very clean and comfortable. Shaka got the car ready for us and did the walk around to note any scratches. His positive energy put us in a great mood to start our trip. Next time we need a rental car we’ll definitely come back to Avis on 64th!"

"Really bad experience. My reservation was from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm. I was going to a family reunion an hour and a half away. I got to Avis on time only to find a huge line outside which I stood in for over an hour and a half. I should have been arriving at my destination at noon but instead, I was pulling out of Avis at noon and of course then hit traffic—I didn't arrive until 2:15 pm. I chose Avis because I live across the street—what should have been an hour-and-a half trip turned into 4 hours from the time I left my apartment. Avis cut into the time that I was paying for and time with my family. There was no apology or explanation from the staff and I'm certain there will be no refund for the time I lost since I was charged the day-rate. Do yourself a favir and use zip Car or Kyte!"

"I can see the reviews below in how this place could be hit and miss. I’ve rented from this location 3 times, two Friday evenings and one Saturday morning. Concur that you should expect a long wait Saturday mornings. Friday nights had no line. Staff does the minimum, I haven’t experienced anything overly rude or bad and all my rentals went smoothly. But I noticed others in line have had issues with their reservation where the staff doesn’t appear motivated to be there, slightly annoyed / not actively helpful. I got a free upgrade all 3 times, nice but prefer the smaller car requested for city driving/parking and better fuel mileage. Each time I felt like I was driving a tank. Also agree that rentals are pricy unless you have a corporate rate. Each rental I rented for 4 days since the weekend rate is somehow 3x the 4 day Friday-Tuesday rate which I’ll never understand. Overall, it’s a neighborhood Avis, do not expect the operating efficiency / customer service / car availability of an Airport location. Will continue renting from here due to price with corporate rate and location convenience."
