The Cafe at Stone Mill
About the Business
Welcome to The Café at Stone Mill, a charming haven nestled in the heart of Little Falls, NY, at 410 Canal Place. Situated on the first floor of the historic Stone Mill building, originally constructed in 1839 as Stitt & Underhill, this café preserves the rich history of the woolen textile mill that once produced military uniforms during the Mexican-American and Civil Wars.
At The Café, we offer a delightful selection of hot and cold beverages, including coffees, teas, and soft drinks, alongside a tempting array of ice creams, baked goods, and a versatile lunch menu. Our newly renovated seating area combines modern comfort with the building's timeless charm, making it an ideal spot to read, relax, or work. Enjoy our convenient take-out window and savor your treats in the beautiful Sterzinar Park, complete with free Wi-Fi throughout the café and park.
Our menu features a variety of delectable options, such as the taco bowl with romaine lettuce, refried beans, grilled chicken, and jalapeños, or the refreshing vegan watermelon gazpacho. We also serve a vegan Mediterranean burger and a range of wraps, sandwiches, and unique dishes like the grilled quesadilla with bacon, chicken, ranch, and cheese.
The Café at Stone Mill is more than just a place to enjoy great food; it's a community hub where we host events like painting parties, birthday celebrations, and book clubs. Our welcoming space offers a stunning view of the Mohawk River and is equipped with free Wi-Fi, making it perfect for gatherings of all kinds.

"Great coffee! Lots to offer at the Stone Mill in general, and this was a great stop. Looked like ice cream was a big specialty, so we may have to go back on a warm day!"
"Three things here….I am from out of town & I have been here before! How does it take a half hour or more to prepare a sandwich or two? If you do not have an ingredient to prepare said sandwiches, why-while ordering-can you not be aware you do not have an ingredient & let your customer know this while ordering in front of you while you obliviously have rung up the order but do not realize you do not have said ingredient until 20 minutes later….Then do not offer to reimburse for an ingredient you do not have or at least offer some comp? Your sandwiches are quite good but the service & wait time for your product is unbelievably intolerable."
"We have had a few mediocre experiences here, just havent gotten around to making a review til now. The vegan burgers arent great and I wouldn't recommend. They are just mushy, like a pate, and are pretty tasteless. The last time we ordered that was a handful of months ago or so. The side that came with it was not what we ordered and there were lots of people there, so we said it wasn't ours and it must be someone else's.They walked the order around to about 7 or 8 different tables both in the cafe and the adjoining pizza place before bringing it back to us. We got it cold, no apologies, the side wasn't even corrected. We couldn't believe how many tables it was brought to (especially with people always being ill) and we just kept thinking "oh geez, I hope that isn't ours" and it totally was. That was our worst experience. They used to also stock pile their betty crocker cookie mix packages all the way to the left, so I have never gotten desserts from there because that is not a high quality product. I will admit we prefer higher quality or organic ingredients so once we see things like that, we don't really bother. The staff is also no longer as friendly as they used to be, my opinion of course, though sometimes one of the younger people taking the order is nice. When we first started going there a few years ago, the owner was primarily the one working the counter and would always strike up conversations with us, tell us about the area, etc. We just went there last week and she didn't say a word to us ... or the time before that.... or the time before that...just walks around with an iPad or something while everyone else works. There is also an older lady there who never says hi to us and scowls. As long time customers, the atmosphere has gone from great to weird/slightly uncomfortable, for us personally. We have been going there a long time because we like to support small business, but it isn't the same anymore. I can say the vegan peanut wrap is decent, but some of the vegan options could use an upgrade. We recently went there and I ordered a vegan soup. I got something white that looked nothing like the photo of what I ordered; I even double checked to make sure it was vegan because what I ordered was supposed to be orange. I was told it was vegan. I couldn't even finish it because I was worried there was something in it I shouldn't be eating and then I didn't feel the greatest after. After looking at images online from other reviews, I am postive I found what I was actually given, which is vegetarian, so it makes sense that I didnt feel well. We have had about 6 or 7 experiences that have just been "meh" so that was likely our last visit, at least for a long time. We definitely gave it a go several times, mostly because of our love of supporting small businesses and also there isn't too much for vegans in Little Falls, so we definitely aren't trying to be jerks; however, there is always room for improvement and this place is no exception. We appreciate the experiences that were nice when we first started going there, so we have gratitude for that of course."
"The white chili (vegetarian) they dish out overwhelmingly tastes of sour cream. Fine by me as there's something nostalgic and homey about white chili. We would have liked more chickpeas in the veggie wrap though but the flavor was good."
"Cute area right by the water. Cafe had vegan options. Looked like it was connected to a bar. Outdoor seating available. Reliable WiFi."
