Reviews of PawPaw Pop Up
"We had been to nearly 10 sit down meals and have had quite a few for take away. Every single time it's better than the last. I really can't do the flavors and imaginative meals justice by just writing about them. You have to just try it. And, it's a steal of a deal. Five courses, each more delicious and create than the last for just $85. Everything is locally sourced and produced which is an added bonus. We will keep coming back. Thank you."
"I would give less atars if I could. I went to this 4 years ago and than agreed with the 5 star but not now. I decided to suprise my BF with what I recalled was a great guided culinary experience with local ingrients prepared in unique ways. What we got was the complete opposite. First the location is a rundown B&B that I do nto knowif its even open or under reno. Walked in to a dark dank building, no one greeted us. As we stood around a waiter finally asked our name adn told us to sit at any 2 seat table we wanted. From there is was down hill in a race car. The chef never introduced himself or talked about any dish. We got vague explaination from the server. First course was a luke warm tea over flowers the nextr course which was the only one edible wasn't even cooked by him but a local bakery bread and butter. 3rd was overcooked almost burnt sunchocks with a tasteless cream sauce and a pay on ketchup made out of carrots - cute but the burnt taste overwhlemed everything The next was a bowl of mushy grey and I mean grey starchy undercooked dumplings. The fish was so overcooked and covered in an oily sauce side dish in a soy carmel that tasted like bad fish - Duck was tough and the side was an overcooked sweet potato topped very tart dried cherries that blew your palate Last I do not even recall what is what suppose to be but it was a cake that was so raw that I actually has to spit it out in my napkin. To top it all - I went to use the bathroom - wondering around a very dark abandoned building but the few dinner guest. No signage for restroom and no one to help - Finally located it. As I shut the door the handle fell off....I spent 10min trying to fix so I could get out. We left immediately ***both of us were sick all night This is no culinary experience - It is an overpriced rip off If you want to service unique dishes showcasing local ingredients at the very least come out to explain each dish and for the love of good food - cook it properly so others don't get sick"
"The atmosphere, service, and food were all fantastic. For a price, you can bring your own alcohol, but they also have wine available for purchase. The food was incredible. I like the fact that the menu is pre selected for you, and it changes every week; so if you go multiple times you won't have the same meal twice. I also like that they support local food sources for their dinners. Everything that is served is grown/caught on the North Fork of Long Island. Reservation is required, so I would definitely check it out and make the reservation ASAP."
"Chef Taylor Knapp gives new meaning to farm to table. Everything is local, everything fresh, some of the menu items are foraged. Flavors and cooking styles are mashed up to give you things like salami carrots or campfire butter. Only open on alternating Saturdays in season (current year), this tasting experience is a quintessential part of the North Fork and not to be missed. Reservations are mandatory and often need to be made well in advance. Seating is very limited."
