"Really excellent sushi that you have to be OK paying a big premium for. They seem to have recognized the price issue and now are offering $30 back on next bill for every $100 spent. I’ll at least go back on a Monday when every other sushi option in Islip shuts down! Drinks shouldn’t be as expensive as they are but my martini did have the best olives I have ever had in my life."
"Have driven past this place for years as it was trying to open but delayed during the pandemic. When I saw it was finally open stopped in to give a try for a late, 4pm lunch. Inside is very intimate, with private rooms for almost every table on the main floor. Nice for couples or families that want privacy, not so much for one person. Service was excellent with what felt almost like a personal waiter (there weren't many diners when I visited) with everyone inside being super nice & making me feel welcome. I opened the menu surprised to find prices that were higher than swanky places I've been to in Manhattan. A lot of people have commented on the prices. In order to be as objective as possible, I'll list what I had & what I paid & you can judge for yourself. I started with a small house salad, which looked good, was very nicely presented & tasted good. Had a cucumber saketini, looked nice again with great presentation but tasted like it used flavored sake with an artificial taste I didn't care for. I also ordered sparkling water which arrived in a fancy bottle. This was followed by an order of shumai nicely presented however was served so hot I had to let it sit for at least 5 minutes before I could even attempt to take a bite, with the heat mainly on the inside. Unlike a lot of Japanese restaurants the shumai was made in house and not store bought, which was nice. As there were no bento boxes or any kind of combination meals that fit what I wanted, I ordered a simple plate of fried rice along with a single yellowfin tuna roll. The small, single serving plate of fried rice was tasty. Although it didn't have much as far as vegetables or egg, it did have savory small flakes of whitefish in it. The yellow fin tuna roll was average, no better nor worse that what you'd expect in any basic sushi restaurant, again being not a large portion. The total bill with tax & tip for this late afternoon lunch for one came out to over $110, this with one drink and no fancy indulgences like filet mignon, lobster or dessert."
"The food was phenomenal. The quality, ambiance, and taste was 100% worth the price. The poor reviews are people who don't know the difference between crab stick and real crab meat. This is worth a try if you're looking for a date night spot."
"Loved our visit to Ushin House! Our waiter was incredible and provided us an experience from preparing the table for us and providing hot towels to checking in with us during the meal. The private room was fantastic and we loved that we could focus on each other instead of being surrounded by a crowd. Our food was delicious and presented beautifully. We finished spending under $140 for 1 appetizer, 1 order of two sushi rolls, 2 entrees, and 1 shared dessert . Excited to visit again!"
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers!!! I had the pleasure of discovering a new sushi restaurant today, and it was an absolute delight! The food was outstanding, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place randomly, and I will definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend!"
