"This ridiculous platter with 3 pieces of oxtail cost $33 and they call it oxtail Mac and cheese. It’s not Mac and cheese because that pasta is a penne not macaroni. They have no prices listed. My husband ordered and they only offered him the $33 size but when I went up they said there was a smaller size for less. I find that very deceptive"
"Honestly, If I could rate 0 stars, I would, Unfortunately. I am all for supporting small businesses and giving them a shot, but this experience was just outrageous and ridiculous. Overall, I would NEVER recommend my friends or anyone for that matter to try Unique Cuisine. Here's the backstory: They were at a fair in Lindenhurst on 8/14/2024 and we walked by them and on our way back my wife and I decided to give them a try. This is what we ordered: - 1X Oxtail Platter - 1X Small Mac & Cheese - 1X Small Jerk Chicken (just the chicken) The lady asked me if I was paying with a card or cash so I said card. She handed me the terminal and I put my card on it until I saw the total....$67.00!!!! I asked the lady for an itemized receipt and she said that she didn't have that. But she entered the items into her POS system though.... hmmm...RED FLAG. At that time a gentleman came and asked how much the Oxtail platter was, and she said $24. So how does my Mc & Cheese and Small Jerk Chicken add up to $43??? I understand that you're paying an arm and a leg at fairs, but that was just highway robbery while taking my kidneys too. I didn't make a fuss of it, as I've I had already ordered and that I should've asked the prices before I placed my order, so I let it go. But it's small businesses like these that are just ripping people off and ruining running a business for others. I can speak of it since my wife and I own a catering company ourselves. And then on top of that.... THE FOOD SUCKS!!! The jerk chicken was not even close to a mediocre jerk chicken and the mac & cheese had no flavor whatsoever and was very bland made out of Penne!!! The Oxtail was tender but super salty. The only thing that was good was the sweet plantain that was part of the meal. I would NOT recommend Unique Cuisine to anyone. And if you do try them, ask for the prices before you order. On top of all, they asked me my order 6 times....lol. BTW: There are no prices listed anywhere!!!"
"They don't even deserve a star! Bought food from them at a fair and asked for a receipt. They said they don't have that. The charge will just show on my statement. So they can basically charge whatever they want. I ordered rice with oxtail and mac and cheese with jerk chicken. The Mac and cheese was made from penne and was overcooked had no flavor. The jerk chicken was very dry and oxtail very salty for all this $68 was charged. When I asked how much a portion was, they said $24, and they couldn't explain when adding 1 more portion could cost a total of $68. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this here is ridiculous. We called them the next day and they pretend they don't speak or understand english. I'm letting everybody know to be careful, and it's not worth your money!!!"
"Honestly very disappointed. This isn’t an accurate representation of Caribbean cuisine at all. I ordered the oxtail and macaroni and it was the most plain dish you could’ve asked for. On top of everything they used penne pasta to make the macaroni AND the pasta was dry and overcooked. P.S.A. that small little dish with a drink costed 33 dollars."
"Excellent Jerk Chicken. The combination smoke and seasoning is excellent. The chicken was so good I forgot to use the sauce."
