"I wanted to know what the hype was and I finally made it. That atmosphere is a bit loud but considering it’s in a food hall it’s fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful for new comers. Food kept coming, and coming when trays were empty. A little mixture of Caribbean and soul food. Check them out. Must try ."
"Finally made it to see what the hype was about. Had the oxtail grilled cheese sandwich and I wasn’t too impressed. Just as many have said before, it lacked the prominent island flavor that we all know and expect in a great oxtail. Still flavorful, but just not what you expect when one mentions oxtail. Some things you just don’t stray too far from or it’s not even worth mentioning the name. The Mac & cheese was good and tasty. Also had the shrimp burger, but the after taste threw me off. Something like crawfish or sea snail lingering taste. Shandy was a plus! Hadn’t had one of those in decades."
"The food was definitely good, but for $23 it was way too pricey to be a regular lunch spot. I had the quarter chicken with the broccoli and Mac & cheese. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well, but nothing mind blowing. The Mac and cheese was very tasty, and the broccoli was fine. But for a $23 lunch, I expected a bit more. Also - they try and up charge you like crazy here. They have a list of “premium sides” that are an extra $3 and you quickly realize that pretty much everything is a “premium side”. This would help a perfect $10-$15 meal, but at this price point I will be looking elsewhere next time."
