"I have taken many broken sterling silver items to be repaired. The atmosphere is very pleasant, professionalism is very evident and there is a personable feeling that allows one to feel comfortable when leaving items to be repaired. I have also purchased items at this place of business. Products are of excellent quality and the attention given is of a caring nature. I would recommend Commonsmith Silver and Gold to others."
"I had a silver coin to sell and brought it here...they gave me almost double what the pawn shop offered me..the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful."
"I have had a few interactions with this establishment. I bought a Citizen there for myself, and that was fine. The price was a little more than what I found on Amazon, but I figured I'd support a local business and get my watch sooner, so all's well. That went fine, although they didn't have the box for the watch and had to give me one from another model. The next occasion I did business there, I had a Wenger that needed a battery. They told me that the battery had leaked and that the watch needed a new movement. The initial replacement they tried to use didn't account for the 24 hour hand the watch had, but they eventually fixed it. Perhaps I should've seen a pattern - and considering the next bit, I'm not sure how trustworthy that repair is at this point. I took my wife's Citizen in for a cleaning and bracelet replacement. When I picked the watch up the first time, the bracelet had been installed backwards. I failed to notice as I was in a hurry and I didn't inspect the watch, nor was the work presented to me. When I gave the watch to my wife, we were shocked to see tool marks from what looked like the jaws of pliers on the case of the watch. The pin that held one side of the bracelet looked like a piece of wire that had been snipped off with some sort of nippers, leaving a rough end. The bracelet, in addition to being backwards, was missing the charm that was on the watch when new, leading my wife to believe that it was a used or refurbished piece. I took the watch back and pointed out the issues. I was assured they would be taken care of, and I left the watch. Upon being notified of the watch's readiness, I returned. The case had been polished, but the tool marks were still evident. The wire had also been sanded and polished back, but the wire was still not flush with the case. The bracelet had been turned around, but it was the same bracelet missing the charm. We will not be back, and I have been glad to share my experiences with everyone I know who is in the market for jewelry or repair services. Edit: After talking with my wife and pulling out her watch to take pictures, I was reminded that the bracelet had failed again after its "replacement" by Commonwealth Silver. In the pictures you can clearly see the wire they used as the pin, and see that it was actually two separate pieces nipped off and driven in. In the other pics, you can see the parallel marks that were left by the jaws of a vise or pliers. Mind you, this is after their attempt to fix and polish them out."
