"We had to take our pup Teddy in for surgery due to a blockage. The communication before and after the surgery was great. They took great care of him while he was there. I can’t think of anything negative about the experience."
"We were at your hospital twice with our dog George Michael. Once on 6/19/24 & once in 6/21/24. George had been through many diagnostics prior to this visit with our own vet. He had been struggling for two months & had lost over 25% of his body weight. The next step was internal medicine but, the scheduler indicated there would not be an opening for another two weeks. She suggested that we bring him into emergency if he had lost that much weight and they would possibly treat and consult with internal medicine. We took him in and sat and waited for more than two hours before he was seen. We were told ,as if we were being admonished, that taking him to emergency would not get him to internal medicine quicker. The doctor that saw us indicated that it was a chronic situation not emergent, and that internal medicine would definitely not accept him, then noted that his lymph nodes were very swollen and indicated that it was likely a sign of cancer. She indicated that they could give him subcutaneous fluid shot since he was on prednisone. I’m not sure why he needed that since he was already drinking water fine and not dehydrated. They sent us home $250 later. On Friday, 6/21/24. He had lost more weight and when we met with our vet, she was able to talk to your oncologist who very nicely agreed to take him in at 2:30 that day. We met with her for his appointment at 2:30. She was very lovely and spent a long time talking to us about what she saw. She did a biopsy and determined to the best of her ability that it was cancer lymphoma. She indicated that she would get the results back Tuesday, 6/25/24 but believed with all the symptoms that had been going on for two months including his drastic weight loss, as well as her looking at his cells under the microscope, that indicators were for lymphoma. She kindly gave us all the options and we decided to go ahead and give him his first chemo treatment that day as we were not ready to make any other decisions at that point. she also indicated that she was very upset that your hospital’s ER ,on Wednesday.6/19/24, sent us home and did not direct us to getting an oncology consult which she said we should’ve had that day in site. while we were pleased with oncology and their care for our pet, we were not at all pleased with our Wednesday visit to the ER.""
"My dog, Molly, had an episode of not being able to stand up because of pain in the belly or back or rear legs. Although they could not really come up with a concrete answer, they were very thorough in ruling out anything life-threatening without doing anything super aggressive or expensive. With some pain meds my dog was fine the next day. With all that was done the fees were reasonable but emergencies are not cheap. I think the lab tests might have been less than my regular vet. All the staff were super nice and helpful yet so busy. Thanks Metro! Valerie Hall"
"Dr. Thalhofer and the surgery team saved Luke's life! The entire staff was professional and compassionate from the moment we walked into the building, until we took Luke home a couple days later. All signs pointed to spreading Cancer. We left Friday evening believing we had limited time. Dr. Thalhofer found rare cases that had similarities with Luke's condition. She called that evening to tell us that it was worth going in to look further. I was hesitant. If Luke was only going to have a couple weeks left, I was afraid those weeks would be spent healing from wounds. The team ran a lot of tests to make sure there weren't any showstoppers, justifying the surgery. The surgeons went in that Saturday evening. They removed the bad parts, and they sent them out for biopsies. Luke did so well, he was ready to come home Sunday. We waited until Monday evening to pick him up. When I saw Luke, he looked 10x better than he looked before the surgery -- after two days! He's been great since. We just received the final biopsy, and Luke has a clean bill of health. Without Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, Luke might not be here by now. The ultrasound gave the image of spreading Cancer. Dr. Thalhofer went the extra mile to find a one in a million case."
