Reviews of Walker Metalsmiths Celtic Jewelry
"So happy I found this place. Using gold from a ring my mother had given me, and a chain that my father had worn, they were able to use my gold and cast a new Claddagh ring for me (using one of their existing designs). The ring came out beautiful and is very special to me. Brought them my gold on a Thursday, and I had the ring the 10 days later."
"Beautiful selection of jewelry. We went to buy 25th anniversary gifts for each other. It was hard to decide!"
"I bought this set for My Nieces 18th Birthday and She Loved it ❣️ She will be going Italy this week and having Easter Service at the Vatican. She will be wearing Her Walker's Metalsmiths Jewelry! Thank You so Much for helping Sherry"
"This place is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. I believe it's Andover N.Y. You might better save yourself some time and order from their website as I have. While I can appreciate the time that goes into each piece, the prices are fairly high. I do have jewelry from here as I also have from Ireland. I also have other Celtic and Scottish jewelry from other online retailers from a metal smith that I found to be of the same quality and at a much more reasonable cost."
"It is almost unfair to remark on such a special place with only words, but I will do my best. In the early stages of the Industrial Revolution, artisans and other master craftspeople were quite cynical that no one person would be connected to their craft and would take no pride it in, as they only would make a piece of something whole. They argued that it would be the death of pride and artistry and they were right, for the most part. We live in a time of fierce global competition, bottom line chasing, mass production, lever pulling, cheaply made trinkets, where the only things sold are largely the same remake or done before. But then you have this place. What more can I say of Walkers than that it is a step back to the pinnacle era of handmade items, truly worthy of the original meaning of artisan? Hidden away in Andover is this wonderful shop where the staff have dedicated their entire lives to mastering what they do, and it shows. They are bold, creative, original, and experts in their craft. The jewelry created here will simply not be matched or outdone in character, the kind of hand-crafted masterpieces typically only found history books or television nowadays. Whatever you buy, whatever you ask that they make, you will be buying an heirloom. I ordered a custom ring for my partner and worked with them for nearly 7 months as I moved slowly to initiate the process. I wanted to incorporate my partner’s mother’s gold ring into the ring (I had permission from her mom, don’t worry!). This simply isn’t done by modern jewelers because of the difficulty of casting. The alloys in the old gold can mess with the melting process, creating brittle or porous or uneven casting. Walker is one of three places I could find that still will take the time needed to deal with reusing older gold, which they did successfully, hence my rave review. That continues for their customer service, notably Kristy. If I were a CEO, I would hire Walkers as a customer service consultant. I am a manager and a Human Resources major, customer service and service to others is my passion. I have possibly, too high of standards, and even by those, Walkers a masterclass here as well. When I first reached out, I asked extensive questions about their gold reuse process and was always met with a competent response. It took me a long time to get everything I needed together for them. Across seven months they never forgot who I was, what I was doing, and I never needed to explain myself again, even with months between contact. They seem incredibly well organized, which is great considering the expensive and irreplaceable things I was sending to them. I do not trust companies or people easily, and they earned my trust beautifully. It doesn’t stop there. Given the historical context of the ring and how excited my partner’s mother (and I) were for this process, Kristy asked if I wanted photos or to be surprised. I said I wanted to see, and mentioned in passing I’d take all the photos I could get of the whole process. Kristy went out of her way to get videos of the casting and merging of new gold with the donated ring, videos and photos of every step of the process. When the photos came by text all blurry or low resolution because of Android/Apple texting nonsense, she set up a Google Drive Folder to share them so they’d come through in full resolution. Kristy truly went above and beyond, and even ensured the engraving I asked for at the last second was done. I have never been more impressed with any business I have ever worked with in my life. If you want any kind of jewelry, even if not Celtic, you should first ask Walkers if they can make it. They are truly one of a kind."
