About the Business
The Butler Dog Training Association (BDTA) is a non-profit organization (501C) dedicated to education, training, and community service. Proudly serving Butler County for over 35 years, BDTA is committed to promoting responsible dog ownership and enhancing the bond between dogs and their owners.
Upcoming Events:
BDTA Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog International (TDI) Testing
When: Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Details: Pre-registration is required. Please call 724-482-6017 or email dogpawscs@zoominternet.net to register. Testing slots may be limited based on time constraints, so early registration is encouraged.
Class Offerings:
- Basic Manners and Obedience Level I and II: These classes are open to the public and taught by qualified instructors using positive training methods.
- Agility Foundation and Handling Classes: Open to the public, these classes guide handler and dog teams from basic to advanced agility challenges.
Training Philosophy:
At BDTA, our training philosophy focuses on building a strong working relationship between dog and owner through respect and understanding. Our classes not only cover basic obedience commands but also include mini-overviews on topics such as nutrition, grooming, and first aid. We address problem behaviors weekly to ensure a well-rounded training experience.
Special Programs:
- Canine Good Citizen Testing: Promoting responsible dog ownership through CGC testing with club-member evaluators.
- Therapy Dog International Testing: For those interested in certifying their dogs as therapy animals, conducted by our qualified evaluators.
Competitions and Trials:
BDTA hosts two AKC Rally trials on Fridays and one AKC Obedience trial each on Saturdays and Sundays at our facility. For updates and announcements, please visit our website and Facebook page.
