"Looking for a home equity loan and this was the group used for the appraisal. After 6 years our home value went down according to this group. I reviewed their appraisal and they had the wrong age for our home, wrong square footage, wrong number of rooms, and used random comparable homes over a 12 month period. I used Zillow to find homes more comparable I the last 3 months. Despite being presented with this information, they refused to even modify the appraisal. Facts are facts and they were unwilling to even review the facts with me. This out us back on our construction project by 4 weeks."
"Our lender contracted with Richard G. English and Associates through a third party vendor to do an appraisal for a home purchase. The appraisal was done on May 26th and as of June 13th, 12:28pm, 19 days later, the report has not been received by the vendor or the lender. An average home appraisal takes 5-7 days from start to finish. Somehow, this firm has managed to take almost three weeks. Repeated phone calls to the firm over the last 7 days have produced excuses and frustration as I was told they couldn't provide any information to me (the person who is paying for the service) and could only talk to the third party vendor. The third party vendor gave them a deadline of 5pm last Friday yet nothing came in. My lender cannot write the mortgage without the appraisal and with only 3 days left until closing it doesn't look like we will meet our deadline. My home purchase may completely fall apart because of this unresponsive business. English and Associates may be the most disengaged business I have ever dealt with."
