The Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department, also known as the Waynesburg-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, has a storied history rooted in community resilience and dedication. Established after a tragic fire on December 23, 1925, which claimed the lives of five individuals, the community realized the need for a formally organized fire service. This led to the inaugural meeting of the current volunteer fire company on March 4, 1926.

To ensure rapid and efficient access to properties in their response area, they have engaged the services of the Knox Company for a Rapid Entry System.

Their fleet of fire apparatus includes:

- 2000 Sutphen Pumper: Featuring a 2,000-GPM pump, this engine was acquired at a cost of $308,000.

- 2013 Sutphen Pumper: This modern pumper, equipped with a 1,750-GPM pump, was purchased for $420,000.

- 2004 Sutphen Tower Platform: This 95-foot tower platform, with a 1,500-GPM pump, enhances their capability to tackle fires in high-rise buildings.

The Waynesburg Borough Council has historically supported the fire department, including the purchase of an earlier engine at a cost of $12,500.
