Reviews of New Castle Public Library
"It's great and all but the problem is the library doesn't do anything about the crowds that hang out after hrs it's 2 am woken up but a group at the library and they haven't done anything about it gonna call corporate"
"Such a nice place to take the kids. Lots of activities and great books."
"Wonderful New Year surprise today at our library - I didn't think the place could get better, but it just did! The library has been reorganized! The result... brighter, airier, and more space. I have always really liked the library here. The staff is excellent and the services have been consistently improved, very thankful for the inter-library loans and the upgrades to the computers. Looking forward to the many events in 2024."
"Out of the 20 years I’ve been going here Ive had good experiences many many times and the director Susan once erased my overdue bill years ago when I was in the hospital (which was very nice of her she didn’t have to do that) There was two librarians in the children’s department I didn’t like (not the one with long hair she’s always been fabulous). One told me I returned a book with 1 speck of mold (smaller than your pinky nail. I don’t know If it was me or whoever had it before me) in the crease of 1 page, she demanded I pay full price or lose services, I paid full price but they STILL kept the book for others to borrow in their system! I was young and didn’t want to cause drama so I didn’t say anything, and then another woman in childrens that worked for many years just always had a bad attitude. I actually stopped going because of her attitude, I didn’t want to see or be around her, I didn’t feel comfortable or welcomed. Downstairs the adult staff were always great and in the book cellar, very accommodating. Anytime I called with questions they answer. Its 100% always clean, the fact they have always kept the public bathroom clean is astounding, I miss the old cat that walked around. I can’t believe they just closed off the 2nd floor and basement because of the elevator not working. Clearly they do not plan on fixing it. I have seen no advertisement effort to raise money to fix it either. Very disappointing. They put a lot of effort in keeping up-to-date books but I wish they would keep older “vintage” material because it’s important for preservation of history. They’ve had so many programs over the years they really try to keep people coming in and occupied. I wish I had taken pictures of the upstairs and basement before they took it away as now it’s just a memory."
"While the library was nice I wasn't expecting to have my address needed to get a library card. What's the knowledge of my address for anyways? And the computers were very slow and I couldn't load anything. I went upstairs only to be greeted by a group of teens being loud next to a librarian and they didn't even try to tell them to be quiet. A library is suppose to be a quiet place to read not where I can hear people talking about their personal lives loudly."
