"Fantastic gym, have been training here since mid-2022 and joining has been one of the best decisions of my life. Have almost exclusively done BJJ but have recently added in some Muay Thai/MMA training and can now confirm first hand that you'll receive great training no matter what discipline you practice."
"Great Instructors, Welcoming Community I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled because of the excellent experience I’ve had at Stout PGH Zelienople. I’m still very new to Brazilian Jiu jitsu (no prior wrestling/grappling experience). Signing up with Stout was one of the best decisions I’ve made for physical fitness, self-confidence and fighting skills. The instructors are all great people, patient, and really supportive. It’s a very welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of skill level. I started doing jiu jitsu on a whim after signing up for Stout’s 40 and over intro course run by Warren Stout and John S. They are both awesome guys and really excellent teachers! Noon Gi and NoGi classes taught by Andy are also excellent! Go ahead and sign up for some intro classes - you won’t be disappointed. If you're looking for a martial arts gym that will challenge you, support you, and help you reach your goals, I highly recommend Stout Pgh."
"My 10 yo stated lessons at the Zelie location. He was a bit hesitant to try Jiu Jitsu, but after a couple of weeks he really got in his groove and was having lots of fun. Everyone is super friendly and the coaches are really great with the kids. I highly recommend this academy!"
"After first stopping in 5 years ago, I finally took the plunge and signed up for a 40+ intro to jiu jitsu class. I loved every minute of it and signed up for a pre-paid year membership following the 12 week intro course. There is zero sales pressure, and they understand the these sports aren't for everybody and they're fine with that. All the instructors have been really great, and Warren Stout himself took the time to be present and instruct at nearly all of our 40+ intro classes and was sincerely invested in our progress and making the course worthwhile. Stout training is a great community to be a part of and I hope to train here for many years to come."
"Brown belt visiting from Austin: Facility: large main space, separate kickboxing space, really comfortable observation area for parents, huge locker room with showers, sauna, comfortable indoor temperature. And instruction: class follows the same general pattern as Austin affiliate, short warm-up, instruction., Followed by positional sparring. The professor was very proactive about finding specific ways to help individual students adapt techniques to their game which was very impressive because there were a lot of students in that instructor teachers a lot of classes. There are several other instructors but I only saw one other instructor from a distance, he was doing a great job getting children and teenagers to develop meaningful striking skills, which is very difficult to do. Atmosphere and gym culture: everyone was friendly and people seem to know each other well. Dropping in was easy and nobody was annoyed that they had to take time out of their day to tell me where the bathroom was. A small thing that I noticed which is symptomatic of the whole is that day have a giant bowl of nail clippers on the front desk. Not one nail clipper that you can use for free if you can find it, more nail clippers than I could want. Probably one for every student in the school. As a result, everybody knows where the nail clippers are and people don’t get scratched. This type of thinking has allowed them to Create a great training environment. All the low hanging fruit for making life easier has been taken."
