Welcome to Comedy Classes DC-MD-VA, the premier destination for aspiring comedians in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Our mission is to provide a supportive and distraction-free environment where new and seasoned comedians can hone their craft and make audiences laugh.

Newbie Friendly: We welcome first-timers with open arms. Our goal is to nurture new talent and provide a comfortable space for you to take your first steps into the world of standup comedy.

Dedicated Performance Spaces: Unlike many DC comedy clubs that hold events in noisy main areas, our shows are hosted in separate, dedicated rooms free from distractions. This ensures that the audience is there specifically to enjoy comedy, giving you the best chance to shine.

Weekly Open Mic Nights: We run three weekly open mic nights in the DC-MD-VA area, perfect for beginners to try out their material:

1. Friday Nights in Georgetown, DC: Comedy open mic night at Chinese Disco in Georgetown. We offer 10 spots ranging from 3-10 minutes based on your skill level.

2. Saturday Nights in Bethesda, MD: Held at Rock Bottom Restaurant, this event includes a paid MC spot (10 minutes), a paid feature spot (25 minutes), and a paid headliner spot (40 minutes). Additionally, we offer two unpaid 3-minute newbie audition spots before the headliner.

3. Saturday Nights in Arlington, VA: Hosted at Arlington Taphouse in Rosslyn, Northern Virginia. We offer 10 spots ranging from 3-10 minutes depending on your experience.

Sign-Up Process:

- Email Only: All sign-ups are done via email to CurtShackelford@verizon.net. Social media and phone requests will not be entertained.

- Age Requirements: Performers must be at least 14 years old. If under 21, a parent must accompany you. Some venues may have a 21 entry policy, but this does not apply to performers.

- Email Format: When signing up, please include the venue name, day, date (MM-DD-YEAR), and your experience level (newbie or veteran) in the subject line. Each show and venue request must be in a separate email.

Veteran Comedians:

If you have more than six months of experience, please include a YouTube link of your standup performance in your email. This helps us determine how much stage time to allocate and whether you qualify for a paid slot.

Special Opportunities:

- Out-of-Towners: If you're passing through, email us your dates and times along with your experience level. Veterans should include a YouTube video link.

- Musicians, Improv Troupes, Poets, and Spoken Word Artists: While our shows are primarily for standup, we welcome performers whose material makes people laugh.

Additional Information:

We often have last-minute slots available, so even if your preferred date is booked, there's a good chance you can still get on a show. If not, you'll receive a free pass to attend our Saturday show in Bethesda, MD.
