"Horrible experience, and it’s only begun. My husband has Kienbock’s Disease, but also fell crushing his Lunate and fracturing his Triquetrum bones. Was referred to Marshall, however, these specialists are few and far away, Motown is closer. He seen Dr. Taras in office, Dr was in the room approx. 45 seconds, extremely vague. Went for surgery yesterday, again, Dr was vague, the resident did however explain more, once surgery was over, the Dr nor resident ever came out to speak to me. I know it’s not generally protocol to speak to the patient after being under anesthesia, however, after seeing my husband, he was with it more then I expected, so assumed Dr had spoke to him about how surgery went. Once I realize they hadn’t, I called Ruby Memorial to speak with the Dr, was told that he would call me back, he never did. The following day, my husband hadn’t hardy slept due to the amount of pain he was in, but kept hoping the pain would calm down soon, and the 2 day supply of Hydrocodone 5mg, that they gave him to take every 4hrs, wasn’t helping a bit. Finally that evening, I called and the Dr on call, called back. Not sure why they even have a Dr on call, as they’re “unable” to call or fax pain prescriptions in, which I know is possible, in our state, as I recently had cancer, and had pain meds called/faxed in several times, from a facility, not affiliated with WVU. We have his pain meds that we could have easily shown a pharmacist, to prove he’s take what he’s suppose to, no more or less, because we live so far away, just stopping by is unrealistic, and we know people are always trying to get pain meds, when they don’t need them, and wanted to prove that this clearly wasn’t my husbands motives. We are now at a non-WVU affiliated ER, the Drs and nurses are stunned with the lack of communication and pain management care, my husband has received. GO to Marshall or a facility that’s not Dr. Taras or WVU affiliated, even if it’s further away!"
