Dollar Car Rental - Pittsburgh International Airport

"Beware of you give them your debit or credit card and it doesn't work the first time for ANY reason, they will drop you as a customer due to phishing prevention. Card must be good for a $500 transaction as a security deposited , then returned to your account 2-3 days after you return the car."

"The rental process was quick. The car was at the airport and the line wasn’t too long. They try and add so many up charges that it makes the process confusing. The total for 4 days was already 350 dollars and they were trying to add so many other things that would make it even more expensive. I declined everything. The rental car was smaller than I thought it would be but it got the job done. The return process was a challenge as there is construction at Pittsburgh international right now (July 2024) so that made the return more difficult. All in all it was a good rental it was just ridiculously expensive for such a short duration."

"To start, the desk agent berated my wife when she checked in. Started in on her before she even got up to the desk. She worked for rental car agencies in the past so she was very understanding and patient with them. Got the car and had no problems with it besides the fact that it reeked of body odor. That’s fine. It’s summer. We dealt with it. The kicker is that they charged us $181.93 for using the PlatePass in the vehicle. We used it once. From US22 to the airport. Which is a 9 mile, 9 minute drive that costs $2.60. We were reluctant to even drive on any of PA’s toll roads because we were wary of Dollar Car Rental being crooks. Family assured us that nah, no rental car company does that anymore. We travel a lot and rent vehicles every time we do. Haven’t had a rental car company gouge us for tolls in years. So we saved ourselves approximately 15 minutes of drive time on the way back to the airport. Most expensive nine miles we’ve ever driven. Do better."

"Got a rental for my wife. Did the online check in and declined the damage loss of $34.99 per day. Upon my wife going to the counter and getting the car they gave her 2 options for damage loss even though she said she didn’t want it. I saw it when the contract was emailed to me. Have been on the phone with awful customer service and long wait times but whatever they do they won’t connect you to the counter at the airport. They keep telling me the only way to get the damage loss removed is to return the rental and start a new contract. Issue is she drove 4 hours to her destination. First time renting with Dollar and the customer service or lack of it will make it our last. If I could give 0 stars I would."

"I highly recommend DOLLAR CAR RENTAL. I have used U-Haul and Enterprise in the past, and they are good, BUT Dollar Car Rental far surpassed them in service, prices, and the QUALITY of the cars they rent. I was at the Pittsburgh Airport. I opted for the manager's special budget rental which turned out to be an electric car. I thought wow that was great. I would be able to check out an electric car. Yvonne (who was wonderful) pointed out that for the area I would be driving that was not a prudent choice. Recharging stations are far and few between. So she recommended an alternative that was PERFECT for me that had unlimited mileage. I was tickled pink with her suggestion. She was outstanding! I was very pleased with the price. The car was excellent for my needs and operated flawlessly. Not to mention unbelievably good on gas mileage. I will definitely be using Dollar Car Rental from now on. I'd like to thank Yvonne for her expertise and excellent service. You are very much appreciated, my dear ."
