Dr. Stuart L. Silverman, MD

"I went to see Dr. Stuart Silverman for a concern about tremors. During my visit, he asked what one of my medications was for (Descovy) so I told him. It is a pill that helps prevent the risk of contracting HIV. He then asked “Are you at risk of getting HIV?” To which I replied “I am gay and sometimes have unprotected sex, so yes, you could say that” He had a weird look on his face when I told him this. That didn’t sit right with me. A few days after, I check my after-visit summary on the MyChart app. He goes into this ordeal on the summary stating that I have a “sexual identity crisis, has history of anxiety and depression and patient now admits he is homosexual.” My sexual orientation had nothing to do with the reason for my visit. So the fact that he felt the need to put that in my after visit notes deeply upset me and made me feel very uncomfortable. I will not be returning to a non-inclusive doctor who is most likely homophobic. I do not recommend this doctor, unless you’re fine with being subject to discrimination."
