"(Edit after speaking with Rachel, she sincerely apologized and assured me that in the future I would only get general anesthesia, it wasn’t available when I had my procedure but it is available now. She also assured me that the medical staff will be further educated on EDS and the pain management and dental complications it can cause. Greatly appreciated. I may go back in the future if I need any procedures.) I had my one wisdom tooth removed here. From the very beginning I warned them repeatedly that I have EDS and would need more pain medication/anesthesia. I was told general anesthesia was not an option. The conscious sedation was not enough once I got to the office, which I was worried about. After taking the second pill, it still barely affected me and I told them that, they said not to worry it should be enough. It was enough that I was all too aware what of what was going on, but enough that I was not easily able to voice concerns. Going into the room, the nurses were arguing/bickering with each other, which didn’t help me feel much better/safer. During the procedure, I would tell them that it hurts, and they’d ask “where?” The one place in my mouth you’re stabbing and digging? How am I supposed to tell you where with your hands in my mouth, and when there’s only one location that could possibly be hurting. I had to ask for numbing shots over, and over, and over, I don’t even know how many times I ended up asking, to the point I eventually gave up asking because it barely helped anyway and they couldn’t believe I could still feel the pain. I eventually gave up and just sat through it. It was honestly a pretty traumatic experience. Anytime I think of this experience I have to try to calm down. I tried my best to avoid this entire experience, I told the doctor about my condition and how the pain medication and conscious sedation wouldn’t be as effective, I believe either the doctor or I told the nurses as well even. Only to find out my brother was able to go elsewhere for less money, be put under general anesthesia, and avoid any possibility of going through the same thing when I practically begged for that option. I mean they got the tooth out, great, it absolutely wasn’t worth it. I only got it removed out of desperation that it could possibly help my nerve pain and prevent it from becoming impacted. It didn’t help with the nerve pain but that part isn’t their fault. Not coming here again especially when I voiced my concerns repeatedly beforehand, repeatedly during, and wasn’t listened to, respected, or believed. It’s been 2 years and I’m still bothered by it. If you have EDS or are a redhead I’d be careful I guess. Dr. Towe is a good knowledgeable doctor, but basically everyone throughout the process didn’t listen to or respect my valid concerns and I was left with another unacceptable traumatic medical experience."
"My hygienist is Becca and she is hands down the best hygienist I have ever experienced. I had to have a laser procedure and my only regret was not to have allowed this to happen sooner. Dr. Towe and her entire staff are professional, knowledgeable and Frederick is lucky to have this level of dental care."
"Dr. Choi and her staff are awesome. I had two separate procedures. From the initial intake to the actual procedures and follow-ups, they were extremely knowledgeable, informative, and friendly. Both procedures went smoothly and resulted in quick and relatively pain-free recovery and healing. Highly recommend!"
"Dr Choi & her assistant April were fantastic. I had an extraction that took longer than expected. But Dr Choi was sensitive to my needs & made proper adjustments for me. April was also very comforting. The whole place is great. I’m welcomed with a smile by the receptionist & treated with respect & kindness. Dr Choi is the consummate professional & will always do a great job. I highly recommend this practice."
"I would happily pay out of pocket for the fabulous treatment I received at Advanced Implants and Periodontics. If an implant is a frightening prospect to you, this is the place to go. Dr Shoff and staff are so knowledgeable and made me feel totally at ease. Everyone was so helpful and nice to me every step of the way. They love their job and it shows! I highly recommend them."
