"We live the Amish area in Ethridge. Wished the tours were still available. We did the tour back in 2011, when our kids were little and it was such a sweet experience. I really hope someone brings back the idea and makes it even better. I am sure the Amish community can use more customers :)"
"It was ok. Had to interrupt the local Amish folks to get a map, as they were talking about another family in front of the maps. I was planning on getting a cool hat, but didn’t wanna interrupt them. They were friendly, but I felt like a bother to them. The Amish guy outside selling baskets was super cool, so we got some really cool quality baskets and trays to take home. They weren’t doing the buggy rides, but driving through and supporting the community was worth it. It made me realize how self-sufficient they were and how dependent basically almost every American is upon government services. The community was so friendly. Everything waves as you drive by. What was really impressive was how helpful the local Amish kids were to their parents. So obedient, and so respectful to us outsiders. Meanwhile, most kids in the regular American world complain about taking the trash out, or any other menial task. Kinda changes your perspective."
"Cheap as a day out and fills a good morning. However, whilst our tour guide was polite and knowledgeable. We went out of our way to request that Jimmy was not our tour guide. However and I am trying to be polite but whilst I was waiting for the tour to start I learned more about the Amish from Google than what I was told on the tour. We stopped at about 4-5 houses pretty much to buy their home made goods. I do not begrudge the local community from earning out of the tourists, but add some more substance to the tour to break up the onslaught of selling. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience. Please note: I have very limited pictures of the tour as taking pictures was banned."
"Definitely worth the price for the Buggy Tour. We had such a great time. Beautiful scenery and loved getting to see the Amish heritage!"
