Cornerstone Recovery and Supports (CRS) is a dedicated non-profit organization with a mission to empower individuals experiencing mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Founded by CEO Mark Zachewicz, CRS aims to provide essential resources that enhance the quality of life for its members while ensuring a safe living environment.
The inception of CRS was driven by the need for specialized services in the community, identified by Beaver County Behavioral Health (BCBH). With Mark Zachewicz's extensive background in Mental Health and Intellectual Disability services, he was well-equipped to meet this challenge. Leveraging his experience from various agencies within Beaver County, Mark established CRS to offer comprehensive support to those in need.
Since becoming operational on July 1, 2013, CRS has been committed to the principles of recovery. The organization aligns with Beaver County’s System of Care and Guiding Principles, ensuring a holistic and collaborative approach to mental health services. Over the years, CRS has expanded its reach, serving a growing population and diversifying the range of services it offers.
In partnership with BCBH and other supportive organizations, CRS continues to evolve, providing invaluable support to the community and helping individuals achieve a better quality of life.

"Overall bad experience, management corners people to get information/or have them do things they’re not comfortable doing. Building in rochester is in shambles and ridden with bedbugs. Serious lack of communication with management and workers. the building in rochester is ridden with bedbugs as well"
"Altogether my family has tried to work with this place three times. The first time we were on the verge of homelessness, and then actually homeless. They didn’t file any papers they said they would, barely answered calls, and gave us the run around until we ran out of time at our former apartment. We ended up having to leave the county because of their ineptitude. The next time, I reached out about the ID and Birth Certificate program and was given the run around for months about it until I just found a way to get copies by myself; I wasted four trips going up to their office though which is infuriating. The last and final time I reached out was about their energy resources. Got their number and extension directly from Duquesne and they still haven’t responded to my call as of today, it’s been almost two weeks. I took the liberty of reaching out to a different agency and actually received the help I needed. If this place is your only option then good luck to you, but if you can find another agency that does the same things as Cornerstone (Salvation Army, Holy Family, Catholic Charities) then take advantage of that."
"Absolutely humiliating. Not only did this place work with another place out of Beaver County for the referral bonuses but they didn't do as Shantel had disclosed. At no point did this place help me with my disability and homelessness, I was given an option of a nursing home or 3/4 house with this place and Cornerstone of Beaver County... DURING COVID. Nevermind the fraudelent "scoring process" by Cornerstone Homeless Shelter of Beaver County to get to this point. Nobody cares I live with severe PTSD. I tried explaining to Shantel some of the issues in my life. Unfortunately they must not write about any of these issues I'm going through in a textbook. I felt absolutely unsafe, unwelcome, and completely nonessential to society through Shantel. Id been in an active episode for awhile. Someone should have seen that and helped, as opposed to "heres a bunch of phone numbers". When I mean help... what housing support is there? All I see is a giant fraud connected to The Cornerstone Homeless Shelter of Beaver County. I felt like Shantel was prejudice against me, that I couldn't get help because I'm Caucasian. I feel my civil rights have been violated. And that's obviously A-OK with this place... challenge accepted folks!!"
"I believe this is a wonderful program! From experience I've had no problems and the staff was always helpful & courteous."
"Staff dedicate their help to some and not others."
