"Although her biography on the AHN webpage lists adolescent care and pediatric immunizations as specialties, Dr. Naguit cannot be reliably trusted on either count. On a minor note, I first visited Dr. Naguit’s practice towards the end of the COVID-19 pandemic to complete my 5-year old daughter’s vaccinations for school. Dr. Naguit struggled to interpret my daughter’s existing shot records and the CDC’s recommended schedule to determine what she was missing. This resulted in her refusing to administer one of the needed vaccinations, and later calling us the same day to explain that she DID in fact need it and we would have to come back the next day for the second shot—a frustrating inconvenience, and a bad time for a scared child. Despite this, we returned to Dr. Naguit’s practice a year later after my daughter had fallen ill with flu-like symptoms for more than a week. Her condition suddenly deteriorated and she presented with symptoms of meningitis. We took her to a local emergency room, who dismissed the suggestion of meningitis, and sent us home. We followed up with Dr. Naguit the next day, and my daughter’s symptoms were more severe. She had a fever of nearly 105°, extreme headaches, neck stiffness, nausea, vomiting, and extreme listlessness. I expressed my concern to Dr. Naguit that the ER dismissed the possibility of meningitis. She suggested it was likely a viral infection, for which there is no treatment. She asked me to research a blood lab in case my daughter hadn’t improved in the next few days, at which time she may want to send us for some blood draws. We never got to that point, because my daughter became unconscious in the bathtub early the next morning and was rushed to UPMC Children’s hospital in an ambulance where she was promptly diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and septicemia. Dr. Naguit’s misdiagnosis nearly killed my daughter."
