Reviews
"Best museum I’ve been to. The exhibits are incredibly well mounted, laid out; they look clean, grand, and majestic. The pieces displayed are remarkable, original, and creative. The fact that they even have live demos/shows (the one in the hot shop is absolutely recommendable), is distinguishing enough. Whether you are a fan of the Blown Away show, you barely heard of it, or bot at all, this is a museum worth visiting"
"We crossed the border on Civic Holiday to see Niagara Falls from the US side. We ended up driving 3 hours away to Corning after. It was so worth it!! We spent our whole afternoon in the museum. And I am not into museums but the CMOG is an interesting one. I have never seen such magnificent glass artworks! The photos don’t do justice at all. You gotta see it with your own eyes. We attended each live show by the hour. Altogether, we were there for about 5-6 hours. We loved our visit!"
"We had so much fun at this museum. After you check in you enter the featured exhibits. The space is expansive and has seating, take a seat and enjoy the perspective from that position. When you exit out of the featured exhibits there's a little crafting area for kids and interactive kid friendly exhibits. I missed one wing because we ran out of time and wanted to watch the show. The show was interesting, they let you ask questions. They have talented staff making beautiful glass vases. I would like to have seen the finished product. The gift shop is just as impressive as the exhibits. There's something for everyone."
"When in Corning, a must visit spot is obviously the Corning Museum of Glass. Admission for adults is on the pricier side but the fact that children up to the age of 17 enter free is amazing! It also makes for a really neat learning opportunity and experience for them. They have a lot of glass pieces showcased as art while also displaying lots of historical aspects of glass, as well as more innovative and practice uses. My favorite was their live glass blowing demonstrations! The auditoriums are big but the design of the stages and benches made the whole thing easy to view. The team was really good with their narrations and good analogies to make things easy to understand. When we first planned this trip, I said I wasn't interested in their studio where you can actually do glass blowing yourself (e.g. make an ornament) but after watching the demo, I was regretting it since I was itching to try. Our last stop was the gift shop which was huge! Lots of options for you to purchase and take home. This museum has lots of restrooms for needed stops and even had a station where you can grab one of their portable chairs to bring around with you to sit! I thought that was so considerate. Personally I didn't feel it was needed as they also have benches around the museum too as needed."
"This place is awesome! Demonstrations of artists sharing their craft, beautiful museum pieces, scientific explanations of wverything from Pyrex to telescope lenses, to fiber optics. Knowledgeable staff and a fun experience. Huge gift shop with items from local artists and the opportunity to assist with a glass craft of your own. Tickets are good for two days. Good value for the money."
