Koala Insulation of Pittsburgh
About the Business
At Koala Insulation of Pittsburgh, we pride ourselves on delivering high-performance insulation solutions to the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Our expert team is dedicated to showing you the numerous benefits of upgrading your home's insulation. According to the Department of Energy, nearly half of a home's energy use is attributed to heating and cooling. As your home ages, insulation deteriorates along with the seals around windows, doors, and lights, leading to higher energy bills and less comfort. Why Choose Us?- Energy Efficiency: Did you know that 50-70% of the energy used in your home is for heating and cooling? By reinsulating your home, you can significantly reduce your monthly utility bills.
- Comfort and Air Quality: Proper insulation ensures that conditioned air stays inside your home, making it more comfortable and keeping the air cleaner. Poor insulation forces your HVAC system to work harder, often bringing in dirty air.
- Environmental Impact: The best way to reduce your home's carbon footprint is by minimizing energy waste through increased efficiency. According to the EPA, improving your home's insulation is the number one way to reduce energy usage.
- Noise Reduction: Insulation not only combats outside noises but also reduces the amount of noise carried from one room to another. Wake up to a quieter, more peaceful home. Our Services:- Clean and Easy 1-Day Insulation Service: Experience the Koala Insulation difference with our hassle-free and efficient service.

"The entire experience was great! A+ for customer service. They explained the job clearly and told me what they were going to do and showed me pictures of the completed job. Took the time to clean up after the job was complete. Very pleased with the outcome!"
"Koala Insulation did a great and speedy job insulating my 3,700 after a flood. They were quick to schedule and fair with pricing. The didn’t try to over sell me or my insurance company. Great communication, friendly and would highly recommend ."
"I have to start out by saying I did not have a flawlessly executed project and I am still very happy to provide a 5 star review, will recommend this company and will 100% use again. I couldn’t be more pleased with Josh (sales / project manager) and Forrest (lead tech). Josh was on time, communicated well, and thoughtfully considered all of my inputs. Once I received the contact (for open cell insulation and removal of the existing insulation + debris) the price, schedule and terms were right so they were the obvious choice. On installation day Forrest let me know he was on the way, showed up on time, reviewed the scope of work with me and talked about my concerns since the only attic access is in the same room as my sons. Forrest and team went to great lengths to make sure any dust/debris from the attic would be contained and cleaned up well when complete. Any home improvement project, especially on older houses, is going to present its share of challenges. After we got back in the house I checked out the house and attic and had some nits I wanted to address. I sent Josh and email over the weekend since we were now off business hours. He called me first thing Monday morning and immediately addressed all concerns with a level of attention that frankly far exceeded my expectations. I applaud the culture of the company which is obviously geared towards customer satisfaction and getting the job done right. Incredibly impressive and they clearly have a great team from management on team. Highly recommend!!"
"We were very pleased with the service from the estimate to the finished project. Communication was very good and also very punctual. The crew that did the job were very professional from when they arrived till when they left. They also were very neat. They also had pictures and reviewed the completed work with us. I would highly recommend. We could not be more satisfied!!"
"Owners Response disingenuous, original review depicts my request for PRORATED refund in context of basement. Tho, major risk (job not doable) like metal studs should be raised during scoping. Koala aware - asked me to fund purchase of tool. Koala should not accept work in unfamiliar homes then. Employee onsite admitted was aware for hours re metal studs. He showed me first hole and issue. Team abruptly left after I talked to Mark about why not addressed earlier. I only agreed to repair wall assuming work is completed. I didn't drill holes into my wall and repaint it for no reason. I could have avoided unnecessary cost entirely. Reputable org would eat this cost. Work was lazy bc insulation was taped/wrapped in areas like HVAC access points (filter) but not needed spots. Clearly team was lazy at best/unskilled at worst (which is against code to block maintenance access). 2nd time we reached out under year (speaks for itself) was delayed bc had baby and had complications/at several months following. The work revealed itself as faulty well before that.I have monitored my humidityand its appx 40%...we've had no water incidents in the basement. They offered to come back a second time. However, this is unreasonable and not the level of service we expected. This is unreasonable by any standard. Instead, we believed a refund would be the easiest solution for both parties. ORIGINAL POST A money grab that borderlines on a scam. Do not use. Koala performed work for us in summer of 2022. The original scope of work was blowing in insulation into drywall, insulating basement vents, blowing additional insulation in our attic, and hanging insulation on a newly constructed wall. The cost of the project was several thousands of dollars. The blown insulation was not completed (see below) and the basement vent insulation falls down/was down without attention to care (see below). Koala refuses to provide any type of refund, even after coming out once to attempt to fix the work of the inexperienced team that insulated the vents (unsuccessfully). The reason the blown insulation was not completed was because our home has metal studs. However, despite discovering this presumably after cutting one hole, Koala spent all day on 1 wall, even cutting 7 holes in this one wall before explaining this to me. They never mentioned this risk to me while quoting the project, nor did they mention it to me upon immediately discovering after cutting the first hole. Instead, I was told at the end of the day, when they abruptly left (and cleaned up poorly). Of course I incurred a full day rate for their employees being on site. I was never provided a sufficient reason for why I wasn't informed earlier in the day, before the project started (that this could be a risk), and of course at this point had a destroyed wall that needed to be repaired and painted, all for nothing. Within a few weeks of leaving, the insulation in the basement vents began to fall. The duct tape was applied in a very lazy fashion, apparent to the most inexperienced home improvement individuals. Most areas of the basement could accommodate an entire wrap around of duct tape for reinforcement. When they came to "fix," they retaped all the insulation back onto the vents. There was no mention of humidity as a risk (our humidity levels are within normal ranges). Within a few months, it began to fall again. Instead of engaging in an endless cycle of having Koala attempt to fix this matter, every few weeks/months, we reasonably requested a prorated refund for the vent work. This is after the owner/franchisee even provided written statements that the work performed was inadequate. However, Koala refuses to refund us for the "work" and now alleges it's likely a humidity issue (without merit and ignoring the fact again that this risk could have been evaluated when quoting the job. Additionally after their first attempt to fix, this was not cited as an issue).I would advise using another insulation company in the area. This company is not trustworthy, in my opinion and experience."
