Museum
The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon is a cornerstone of our community, dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and sharing the rich history of Mount Lebanon. Situated at 794 Washington Road, the History Center is a vibrant hub for history enthusiasts and local residents alike.
Current Exhibits and Events:
Our latest exhibit, "Then and Now Along Washington Road: 1964 & 2019," offers a fascinating look at the evolution of the Uptown area. This display features photographs of buildings from 1964 juxtaposed with images from 2019, with some updates added in 2021. This exhibit beautifully captures the dynamic changes and enduring spirit of our community.
In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we are also showcasing an exhibit that honors the contributions of our donors. This display features fifty “treasures” from our collections, ranging from the late 1800s to more recent times. These items, both serious and whimsical, form a tapestry that tells the story of Mount Lebanon’s past and enriches our mission of preserving and interpreting history.
Walking Tours:
Don’t miss our popular neighborhood walking tours! These tours offer a unique way to explore the historical landmarks and stories that shape the character of Mount Lebanon. Tickets are available now, so be sure to secure yours today.
Visiting Information:
The History Center is open to the public on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with plans to extend hours in the future. For everyone’s safety, visitors are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. The number of visitors will be limited to under 20% of the center’s capacity.
Special Appointments:
We welcome groups for special tours, including organizations and high school reunion groups. If you have out-of-town guests and would like to schedule a tour, please call 412-329-8595 and leave a message with your preferred date and time. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
Community Involvement:
Our success relies on the support and involvement of individuals, businesses, and organizations. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization, every member strengthens our mission and helps us achieve our goals. Together, we create a strong collective force dedicated to preserving Mount Lebanon’s history.
