"This hike is a gem but it is a climb. Its alot of stairs and mostly uphill. Allow yourself the time to go slow and take it all in...its absolutely stunning. Many dogs out this morning and good wading/ swimming for furry friends. Buttermilk is a fantastic place to marvel at amazing potholes for all of those who are geology buffs. The falls just go on and on and on...water was running well and lighting was perfect around 8a. Crowds filtering in as we left at 9:30. Nature is alive with wonder here. Be mindful of poison ivy on trails edges."
"It's a beautiful place and great if you want to swim and picnic by the 1st falls. My calfs were still sore from the previous day's hike, so I only got to the 1st level. My husband continued and raved about the remaining trek. The restrooms were clean."
"So close to Ithaca and Cornell that you could nearly walk here. Get here first half of the day for parking. Anything in the afternoon on the weekend and you will be fighting for a spot. The park itself is gorgeous - be prepared for trails that climb significantly. The views and the scenery itself become the reward. Beautiful park to visit in the summer. And the kids loved the little swimming hole at the bottom of the falls."
"This is a beautiful cascading waterfall with trails on both sides that are 3/4 mile long in each direction, total hike would be 1.6 miles. The Gorge Trail is more strenuous with approximately 675 steps with numerous excellent overlooks of the falls, the Rim Trail is gravel with no steps but not as good views of the falls. The entrance at the bottom of the falls is not clearly marked and easy to miss the turnoff into the park. Cost is $9 to park. I highly recommend visiting these falls, well worth the effort."
"Went for the hike not the swimming... So we decided to start at the bottom and take the Gorge Trail to the Dam and then come via the Rim Trail. The trip was a success, but wow that first climb is not to be trifled with. Now provided you're up for the climb the view is amazing and so much better than the bit you see from the swimming area. The return trip isn't filled with the same views of the gorge, but it has its own niceness so happy we did it. Suggestion to anyone planning to go, try to start as soon as they open if you really want to see it."
