Did you know that every two seconds, someone in the U.S. is in need of blood? Volunteer blood donations are vital for saving lives, with just one donation capable of saving up to three lives. Blood is crucial for surgeries, cancer patients, individuals with chronic illnesses, and those suffering from traumatic injuries.
Donating blood at UPMC in Central PA is a quick, safe, and easy way to contribute to saving lives in your community. Each day, hospitals in Central Pennsylvania utilize between 275 and 300 units of blood and blood products. One pint of your life-saving blood can help heal wounds, fight infections, or replenish the blood supply for another person in need.
The blood donation process takes approximately 30 minutes, and you can donate every eight weeks. All blood types are accepted. We have blood donation centers in both Carlisle and Harrisburg. Additionally, blood donations can be made off-site in the Lancaster and Lititz regions through the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank.
