Reviews of Mary Self, MD
"So far before seeing Dr Self scheduling is a nightmare. 2 referrals sent from my primary doctor since 10/3. Being told “lost oh then just in back log found but lost again” then categorized as “a call” in error which closed the referral so send a fax! Fax never received!? Now my provider is to CALL a referral in. Hoping all the good reviews of Dr Self is worth this nightmare pathetic scheduling! I will update my review once I get to actually see her."
"Dr Mary Self has been very attentive to my thyroid issues and my lab levels have never been better! She is very knowledgeable and willing to explain things in great detail to help you understand how the thyroid is supposed to work. Appreciate her taking good care of me!"
"As a patient with complicated autoimmune disorders, Dr. Self's precise attention to detail made it possible for me to have two healthy children. I am fortunate to have been a patient of hers for more than 15 years. Is she direct? You bet! And I value that trait most about her. She cares about my health and balances numerous data points when monitoring my treatment. Will she seek out the most up-to-date research to make sure she is providing top-level care? Yes! My lab tests have evolved over the years as she has studied and implemented new, more precise techniques. Would I follow her anywhere? YES!! I never felt this good, this healthy, with my prior endocrinologist. She is a treasure, I feel lucky to have her in my life."
"If I could give her zero stars I would.Dr. Self has put incorrect information in my medical history. I have called multiple times to try and get this fixed. They tried to fix it but still did not listen and fixed the wrong thing. I called again to correct it and they still never return my call.So it is still incorrect. She also caused me to go from being hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism which means I had too much medication as she did not listen to my health concerns or read my labs correctly. She was rudee and in and out and she does not take the patients health seriously. Please avoid her office as I am still trying to fix the damage she caused with my thyroid levels with a new doctor three years later. I am more upset about the incorrect information in my chart that they will not listen to and fix after many many phone calls. My health is still not correct she had me on 175 mg of synthroid and I needed to be on 125 mg dosage so my body has had a lot of issues because she clearly does not know what she is doing and does not know how to read labs correctly. They just do not listen to their patients. Do not waste your time with this office."
"I am very thankful for Dr Self and her honesty. She is very direct in her communication yet also has compassion. She explained after reviewing my chart I had been over medicated, over tested and most likely didn't need to be on the medication I had been taking. She found that I had a thyroid disorder back to 2015 as she researched the material I sent her as well as online records. I originally had another Dr in 2018 that started testing me everything 3 months, biopsy and more only to find out it's something I've had for years and was not new nor did it have a change. My case is complicated by the fact I've also had cancer twice, almost died multiple times and have tried to get my body to balance back after all the cancer treatments. She's a miracle worker. Not everyone is going to like her direct approach but I prefer the honesty and shes saved me a ton of money, testing, medications, etc by spending the needed time reviewing my condition."
