"Well worth a day trip. Grounds are immaculate and the building has been beautifully restored. Easy access off the turnpike. Walking on the grounds is free and for some this would be enough. The inside tours explaining the history are well done and the price is fair. Nothing is overwhelming. People who do not like spending long periods in stuffy museums would like this. Although it is clearly a gilded age mansion, you can almost see your "summering' here."
"Great place to visit but will lead by saying that once you park, you will easily have a quarter mile walk from the ticket booth to the actual house. When you pull in, the giant white house there is actually the stable house. The real house is down the road behind down to the home. Many sculptures along the way and the house is a great tour. They do have an elevator to get to the upper floors if needed."
"The Mount is an awesome place to visit. The grounds are large and full of sculptures. The gardens around the mansion are also very stunning. Walking around the outside is free or charge but you do have to pay to enter the mansion itself. It was well worth it."
"Enjoyed touring the Mount very much. The grounds are wonderful, with pretty gardens. They had a sculpture exhibit when we visited, so lots of interesting sculptures to see along the path. House is very accessible, informative signs and stories about Edith Wharton. We did self-guided tour. Highly recommended!"
"Beautiful grounds and mansion filled with the history and culture of a wonderful woman author. Was nice to spend a few hours here and learn more about Edith Wharton's life in yesteryear. You can walk the grounds for free, but it is well worth the price to be able to wander around inside - it's an amazing place."
