About the Whiskey Rebellion Education & Visitor Center
Welcome to the Whiskey Rebellion Education & Visitor Center, located at 184 S Main St, Washington, PA 15301, United States. As a unique museum dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of the Whiskey Rebellion and the 18th-century life and times of David Bradford, we invite you to step back in time and experience our historic offerings.
Our mission is to educate the public while preserving the heritage of this significant period in American history. The Bradford House, a central feature of our center, allows visitors to immerse themselves in the past. Guided tours, led by knowledgeable guides in period clothing, showcase the home's authentic furnishings, educational exhibits, and a beautifully maintained 18th-century garden, complete with a well house and log kitchen cabin.
The Whiskey Rebellion Education & Visitor Center offers a variety of engaging exhibits, including an 18th-century-inspired cage bar and a whiskey still display, highlighting the importance of the Whiskey Rebellion and David Bradford's role. This history is unique to western Pennsylvania and Washington County, offering visitors a deep dive into a crucial chapter of America's early days.
Our center also hosts a vibrant summer festival that celebrates this historical era through reenactments, heritage displays, street theater performances, children's activities, music, food, and libations. This event shines a national spotlight on our city, county, and region, making it a must-visit.
We welcome scout troops to the Bradford House, providing an educational opportunity for Brownie, Girl Scout, or Boy Scout groups. Additionally, mark your calendars for our 2024 Dinner on November 8, 2024, at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe.
The Whiskey Rebellion Education & Visitor Center is open from Wednesday through Saturday, April through November, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on holidays. We offer free visitor parking behind the Bradford House, accessible via an alley. Tours can be scheduled year-round by appointment (except holidays) with 48 hours' notice by calling us.
