"TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN!!!! I would give zero stars but can’t write a review without at least 1. About a month ago I was so excited to find his office accepts pediatrics, as well as my children’s’ insurance. They even got us in the next day! But when arriving after going through reception- which were exceptionally nice. Dr Volk told my oldest girl whom is 7 to go first. When asking her to read the letters- which she couldn’t read because it was blurry and he didn’t even give her time before snapping at her. Nor did he adjust the opticals to make it visible! Basically just quickly got angry and kicked us out stating we need to go to a pediatric optometrist. I was outraged. Then when finding a peds optometrist in st clairsville, they stated they have had several people come in with the same experience! Apparently, Dr Volk is known for being a totally miserable, bitter, rude person. Would NEVER recommend. He is accepting patients, then charging for the initial appointment, while knowing he isn’t going to actually do anything for children. Fraud and scam towards insurance."

"I am extremely surprised by these negative comments. My husband and I just went for our appointments at the same time and it was fantastic. The receptionists were very friendly. Dr. Volk was a man of few words but was polite and straight to the point to both me and my husband. The woman who helped us pick out our glasses and the one that set up our next appointments were also extremely nice. I'm not sure why others have had bad experiences but ours were beyond my expectations after reading these reviews. I say take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Also yes, the inside is very pink, lol. The walls, the carpet, the frames, the bathroom. A bit dated, but it was very clean and they sanitize all the glasses after you try them on. I hope this review helps someone else who is thinking of setting up an appointment. I would recommend them to anyone!"

"I never want to write a negative review but my experience with Dr.Volk was so appalling that I can't help but share. I made an appointment with Dr. Volk originally at his Bridgeport office but was then told (several days later) that I was mis-scheduled. The receptionist (very rudely) told me that I could be seen in the Wintersville office or else I could wait 60+ days for another appointment in Bridgeport. I chose to be seen in Wintersville. I arrived on time for my appointment in Wintersville to be left sitting in the office (which is gaudy as hell, by the way) for 45 minutes. I was then hurried into a dark room by Dr. Volk, told to sit in the exam chair and he began the "exam". This "exam" consisted on Dr. Volk telling me to sit in the exam chair, look at the letters on the wall and "tell him what I See". After covering both eyes for this test Dr. Volk truffle told me that my "astigmatism and vision problems" were "beyond his expertise". This is when I had a "WHAT THE HELL?", moment. Doctor Volk sent me out of his office with no treatment, no guidance.... nothing. THIS MAN IS A HACK. He does not deserve the designation of "doctor". Avoid this practice by all means. Nothing good with come from his "treatment"."

"So.....after reviewing all the negative reviews....wow...I agree with most of them. My issue was changing optometrists due to insurance coverage. New optometrist wanted my records from Dr Volk to assure proper/continued treatment. New optometrist tried for months to get their office to respond to records request. I called and ran into same uncooperative crew....told me Ok I had to go in person. I went a week later... started to refuse to give me my records....then said too busy to do it....then I had to pay $20.00 for time to copy and paper....(time? Auto feed tray and push 1 button). I paid the money, gave them an hour to copy it.. outrageous huh? We all deserve better."

"I'm shocked by the negative reviews. I had a great experience. The office was well maintained. The office staff were professional and friendly and answered my questions. Dr. Volk knows his stuff. This makes him focused on accuracy, but not at all unpleasant. His recommendation saved me money in the long run. I'm grateful to them and will return."
