The day of the procedure, which took place at Mercy Vision Institute, was the best it could possibly be; from reception, nurses, anesthesiologist, Dr. Kent and the valet. All very caring, considerate, informative and respectful. I even received a follow up call the next day (Saturday) to check in on me. Couldn’t ask for better treatment/care. The results, so far, are excellent. I’m fortunate enough that I was referred to Dr Kent-wouldn’t go anywhere else."

"Dr. Kent was the WORST experience I have ever had with a doctor and his staff. Unprofessional, uncaring, unorganized, insensitive. Dr. Kent was totally dismissive and unconcerned. I made the decision there was no way I would allow Dr. Kent to do eye surgery and walked out of his office. For the record, I had just the opposite previous experiences with Dr. Abassi and his staff, finding them to be very professional, organized and caring."

"No doubt Dr. Kent is a well-trained and skilled doctor given his education and position with Everite and Hurite but I would not describe him as kind or caring. My father is 88 years old and has severe COPD. He has difficulty breathing under normal circumstances and does not tolerate a mask well. Dr. Kent and his staff insisted my father wear a mask. When I explained his medical condition again, I was told that is "unfortunate". He still insisted my father wear the mask and that I needed to outside the room and wait down the hall. My father though not incompetent, has some dementia and extreme hearing loss. I waited outside the open door out of concern for my father's well-being. The doctor barely spoke to my father and when he did, my father had difficulty hearing him. The doctor called me back to the open door. I started to walk in the exam room and was told to stay right there (in the hall). He began asking me questions regarding my father's medical history. . . mocking me when I mixed up my left and right (I'm exhausted from caregiving - my father requires 24 hour attention) . . .all the while, my Dad was forced to wear the mask. There was no attention being paid to my father by the doctor. Was my father in distress? Could he breathe? I understand the whole covid protocol and I was wearing a mask out of respect for policy. My father has not been in public places other than 2 doctor appointments since March. The doctor was wearing a N100 mask. What was he so worried about if the mask works? He certainly was not concerned about my father! But yet, he raced down the narrow hallway to open the door to the waiting room for me as I pushed my father in wheelchair. I'm confused. This gentlemanly act of kindness was his token of respect to us? I don't understand the logic. Sadly, we have so quickly become a society lacking understanding, compassion and empathy on the pretext of stopping the spread. My father is not a healthy or well man Yes, he would be at risk for contracting covid. But yet his most immediate need (oxygen) was ignored. For what? The selfishness of the already protected doctor? His life was obviously much more valuable than my father's. I'm certainly glad that Dr. Kent determined my father was not a candidate for eye surgery because we would not be back."
