"My mom was a patient of Dr. Jayakumar, also known as Dr. Jay. She was also a cancer patient - her cancer caused her kidney failure - so she never saw Dr. Jay at his office but always at the dialysis center or in the hospital. He was always very friendly and kind, treated her with the utmost respect and care, and treated me - her primary caregiver - with professionalism and kindness. He was her 2nd nephrologist, I was unhappy with the first and Dr. Jay took over her case and stabilized her kidney care, which I greatly appreciated. He literally had to go out of his way to care for my mother, and never complained about that. I'm sure there may have been some problems between himself and the first doctor because I made the decision to change her doctors - which was a life or death decision - but he never troubled me with that if it happened. He did eventually suggest we change to a doctor who was closer to home, and his referral worked out great for the rest of my mom's life, but I greatly appreciate the care my mom received from Dr. Jay. He understood all of our concerns, and I can't stress enough how professionally he treated both of us. My mom was a nurse, and I was a college professor, so we weren't unknowledgeable about what was going on with her medical status. He was always honest and open, and had my mom's best interests in mind, even when she insisted on going against doctor's orders due to personal preferences. My mom's case was terminal and incurable from the start, but I am thankful to Dr. Jay for making sure that my mom was able to keep her kidneys from cheating her from any time she did have remaining, which almost happened under the previous doctor. I will always be grateful to him for his kindness, skill, and professionalism."
