Reviews of UPMC Mercy
"I'm sitting mercy hospital for chest pains. The nurse and the doctor were very rude. Because I've been waiting for them to answer the call button. It took them exactly an hour to help me. When I said why did it take so long for someone to answer the call button. He said if you don't like it leave. Very disrespectful it's7.pm. And they still are just standing around talking. Some are eating some are texting on their phones. What a complete mocking of professional behavior . I'm never coming back to this rude place."
"This is the absolute most horrendous hospital I’ve ever seen. My fiancé was initially here on a Wednesday after being involved in an explosion, he got sent in to the er and transferred to the burn unit. Once released from the burn unit they told him to go back to the er, when he returned down to the er they said he needs to check back in and wait even thought he was never discharged in the first place so we left. We had to return 3 days later and this time they said he was never discharged previously and they have been looking for him for 3 DAYS! How you “lose” a patient for 3 days is beyond me. Not to mention when we got to the er the second time the receptionist was sleeping and I had to yell excuse me 3 times to get her to wake up and the floor was covered in garbage and urine… absolutely ridiculous!"
"UPDATE: It has been a week and no one has contacted me from Mercy about my experience after I reached out via their feedback page at their request. I love how UPMC just pastes the same tired response on every negative review, only to ignore you when you actually take the time to provide them feedback. SMH. I’m not one to resort to leaving negative reviews online for a business, but my experience with Mercy has been so bad that they have left me no choice. If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. I visited the ENT office at Mercy for an ear issue that I had been experiencing for months. After spending about 20 min. with the doctor, they were not able to diagnose the issue. I was combating the issue with a combination of Flonase and Claritin, so the doctor’s recommendation was to just “keep doing what you are doing”. Afterwards, I got billed over $1100 for the visit! I’m incredibly frustrated as there was no resolution, next steps, or anything of value provided during my appointment and now I’m stuck with a massive bill and the same lingering issues that I was experiencing before the appointment. The whole point of the visit was to try and get to the root cause of the problem so that I could STOP taking the Claritin and Flonase every single day. I spoke with Billing, Patient Care, and the ENT office directly and I didn’t feel that any of them actually cared about me as a patient. All they wanted to do was continually justify the cost of the visit. They also recommended coming in for a re-evaluation…..for another $1100. This experience just tells me that UPMC cares more about the money and quantity of patients over actually helping those that choose them as a provider. It’s incredibly sad given their presence in the Pittsburgh area. Regardless, I will be avoiding UPMC moving forward and recommending others do the same. There is a vast difference in the quality of care received at an AHN facility versus a UPMC facility. I gave UPMC a shot and they completely let me down."
"ER is absolutely horrendous. They didn’t even properly clean out the wounds. They didn’t give any antibiotics for anything, only Tylenol. The family friend had a couple broken ribs but since she could walk they discharged her immediately. She also had more issues but too many for me to remember, but the ER didn’t even treat her properly due to her insurance."
"My father stay there and was released yesterday. He has fallen and fractured his hip and 3 ribs he is 80 and also has dementia. The nurses and staff on his floor were awful. Except for Tony he was awesome and amazing. We would walk in to find my dad's room fithy. Floors were sticky with crumbs everywhere. Dirty wash clothes and garbage left on the floor. Because of the pain meds my father needed help eating. No one helped him. Had to ask to have the water pitcher refilled after the lady delivery them walked right by his room, and saw up. He spilled water on himself and had dropped most of his food in his bed. They just left it my sister's and I were cleaning him up. Pressed the call button for a nurse to change him. Took almost 45 minutes for anyone to respond. Also left him sitting in a chair with his head bent completely sideways for 3 1/2 hours. Call buttons are going off and the nurses ignore them and continue on talking. Horrible 11th floor. Except for Tony he was awesome. The nurses on the 12 floor were amazing also from his stay before this one."
