East Liverpool City Health District

The East Liverpool City Health District is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its residents by promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and protecting the community. Local health districts in Ohio, including East Liverpool's, were established as per ORC Chapter 3709, detailing the powers and duties of Boards of Health and Health Commissioners according to ORC Chapter 3707.

Each health district functions as a separate political subdivision, comparable to a school district, and has an appointed Board of Health. The Health Commissioner reports to this Board. Ohio currently has 112 health districts, categorized into general health districts (county), city health districts, and combined health districts (county and city).

The City Health District Board of Health members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city legislative authority. The mayor serves as the board president by virtue of office. Board members receive compensation for attending monthly board meetings, up to $80.00, but are not reimbursed for mileage within the county and are not eligible for PERS.
