Established in 2011, this Monaca, PA-based organization focuses on educating and raising awareness about occupational diseases, with a particular emphasis on asbestos-related conditions. Founder Diane Blackburn, a seasoned Radiation Therapist with over 30 years of experience, leverages her extensive medical background and OSHA training to develop comprehensive educational programs.

The cornerstone of Blackburn Occupational Health Specialists is its robust asbestos disease awareness training, aimed at both trades workers and their families. Recognizing the myriad hazards faced by today's workforce, the organization also addresses a broad spectrum of occupational risks. Their innovative training programs are available both onsite and through a dynamic virtual classroom, ensuring an interactive learning experience that leaves no questions unanswered.

Diane Blackburn's commitment to occupational health stems from personal experience. Her father, Dale Blackburn, a member of Local 47, suffered from multiple diseases linked to occupational exposures, including asbestosis, mesothelioma, and esophageal cancer. This personal journey inspired Diane to focus on preventing late-stage disease diagnoses and improving treatment outcomes for trades workers.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all classes are currently offered via distance learning. Blackburn Occupational Health Specialists also organizes meetings, classrooms, conferences, and screenings to further their mission of protecting the health and wellness of trades workers.
