Reviews of R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center
"I was brought in with a broken arm with bone out of skin I did not have surgery for a day and a half after that. 32 hours in I asked the nurse for a bucket of water and towels and with a broken arm I washed the road rash on my knees and my arm, and my back with my other damaged hand as no one had addressed or did they at all while I was there . Then during the night when I needed help because my drain had fallen out my call buzzer on my bed was not working, and I had to roam the halls at 2 o’clock morning to find a nurse. it is been a month. I still have not met my surgeon, dr Raymond Pensy and he will not sign any of my return to work paperwork or respond to any of my emails or voice messages, to top it off. Do to the DELAY IN CARE I have an infection at the surgery site. The only thing they do in there is fill your full of pills. Worst experience I have ever had in a hospital."
"Someone should talk to the asian woman in Shock Trauma CT scan about how to interact with her black/African American colleagues. This is the second time I’ve saw for myself that she does not acknowledge black nurses, and she’s also very condescending when talking to her black peers. I’ve always heard that the second floor was racist but I certainly am not going to tolerate it or not speak up when I see it happening."
"My daughter was in a bad car accident June 1st and this trauma unit provided her with excellent service. I thank the Lord and the entire staff for saving my daughter's life."
"My son was flown there after a car accident. The people there are amazing, even in the ER. The Neurotrauma staff on the 4th floor in Shock Trauma are outstanding! Their sincere care and compassion made a traumatic and painful time of loss a little more bearable. We will be forever grateful for them. The only challenge to the hospital is finding parking with all the construction happening around the building."
"The most disorganized trauma center ever! Nobody communicates with each other. You sit and wait and nobody comes down to update you. Then you go up and a bunch a beds in a bay unit and the nurses don’t communicate whatsoever. They don’t communicate with family in the waiting room. The waiting room was so hot we were sweating and asked to cool it down and they couldn’t figure out how. What a mess of a hospital. The whole UMMS IS A MESS!"
