"Approximately six or seven years ago my wife pointed out to me that we were having many misunderstandings. At first the misunderstandings were happening occasionally. Then all of a sudden, the misunderstandings were two to three times a day which led to very heated discussions. Our conversations became very frustrating, for both of us, as we would argue about what was said by the other person. After having a hearing evaluation, by Janet at Oakland Audiology, it was determined that I did have a slight hearing loss. Apparently, I was hearing most of the conversation but my brain was filling in some words to make sense of my wife's sentence. At that time, I was fitted for a hearing aid to pick up some of the higher frequencies of sound. Fast forward to today and my new set of hearing aids are rechargeable and I can control the volume, noise reduction functions, etc. on my cell phone. I can also direct my cell phone calls to come through my hearing aids. My wife & I still have some misunderstandings but not due to a lack of hearing her !
