About the Business

Welcome to the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences, located on the 7th floor of the Biomedical Research Building at 2109 Adelbert Road, Cleveland, OH 44106, United States. Our department is dedicated to advancing human health through pioneering genetics and genomics research, as well as training the next generation of scientists.
Our esteemed faculty's research spans a wide array of areas including epigenetics, neurogenetics, stem cell biology, chemical genomics, developmental genetics, metabolic disorders, and cancer genetics. We take pride in our vibrant academic community, which has recently celebrated several remarkable achievements. Dr. Jeff Maltas' paper on frequency-dependent ecological interactions and drug resistance was accepted into PhysX, and Mitch Drumm has been honored with the title of Distinguished University Professor. Additionally, Erin Cohn's research on the impact of quats on oligodendrocytes has garnered national attention.
Our department offers a comprehensive Genetics graduate program that equips students for careers in basic and applied research across academia, industry, healthcare, teaching, publishing, foundations, and government. Furthermore, our Genetic Counseling Training Program is designed to prepare students for the evolving landscape of genetic counseling in the 21st century.
The Research Institute for Children’s Health at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is another cornerstone of our department. Here, we focus on addressing children's medical conditions through innovative research approaches. Additionally, the FIND Pipeline at Case Western Reserve University translates gene-directed strategies into therapeutic interventions, particularly for inherited diseases.
We are also home to the Center for Human Genetics, a unique collaboration between Case Western Reserve University researchers and clinicians from University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. This partnership is dedicated to translating cutting-edge research into clinical practice.
Under the leadership of Professor and Chairman Zhenghe John Wang, we warmly welcome you to explore our department and join us in our mission to push the boundaries of genetics and genome sciences.
