LaTouche Pediatrics: Andrea Bateman

"Dr. Bateman has been nothing but kind, supportive, and informative during our appointments throughout the past few years we've been seeing her. She is always a delight to work with and is eager to answer any questions we have. Prior to Bateman, we had seen many different pediatricians across Anchorage and none of them were as exceptional as her. Seeing Dr. Bateman has taken off so much stress and hassle when it comes to doctors appointments. I am so so grateful for the role she's played as our pediatrician."

"I can't say that this visit was our first with her but it is absolutely our last. My 3 year old daughter needed her physical and all they had was an early morning appt. This is a very hard time for me and my children as I am a single working mother of two. So I tried my best, we walked through the office doors at 10 after and called back at 13 after. It started with the nurse behaving short and cold with my daughter. My three year old just couldn't move fast enough for her she had no smile no soft voice and was not appealing to a child. Finally after trying once aggressively to take blood pressure, which we had never done before, and the nurse wouldn't allow my daughter to sit on my lap, she said 'forget it just go into the room, you guys are already behind schedule." Then Bateman came in and her behavior just shadowed the nurse, rude, cold, aggressive, short tempered, towards me and my daughter. There was nothing kind or playful in her nature for dealing with a toddler. She began shoving the tools in my daughters face and ears and telling me to hold my daughter down while she screamed and felt her personal space invaded. I was not comfortable with this. I asked her to slow down and be less aggressive, she replied "I have three other patients after you, if you wouldn't have came late." I had checked with the front desk they do have a grace period of 15 mins, which we were in. So the behavior of the doctor was a shock to me. I cant say I've been called back before 15 after when I am on time. Then the doctor blamed me for her disgusting demnor. This all happened quickly as the doc was rushing her best, but she tried to shove the stick in my gals throat and my gal tried to bite her saying I'm not ok with you, the doctor but her hand on my daughters forehead pushed her head back and snapped "dont bite me" at my 3 year old! I told her "that's it that's enough get gone". We left feeling traumatized and disrespected. My heart was so heavy that whole day to know that that woman may treat any other family like that. It was an awful experience and I reported her. The thing is I work with patients too and yes they are late yes life happens but I could never imagine taking frustrations out on women and their small children. No excuses."
