"Although I was originally upset with pricing for a previous sale I had made, Oxford was willing to still accept my business after the fact. They won’t always have the best prices but not having to worry about shipping and insurance (or lack thereof) provides peace of mind."
"I bought 16 gold bars at the end of December prior to the holiday. I went in today and purchased 4 more and had planned to purchase 4 more next week and 4-8 per month moving forward. I wanted to establish a good, long term, mutually beneficial working relationship with the company and steadily work with them moving forward. One of the owners has been a complete gentleman and worked with me on my previous purchases, explains everything politely with good customer service. The other owner I encountered today questioned me and basically insinuated I was a liar about purchasing 16 gold bars last month. I will be looking at other options for places to create a long term working relationship with if this is the way they treat their customers and develop their long term business relationships. The owner today was rude, dismissive and it was not a good experience at all. I did not have a good feeling after making my purchase today after dealing with this owner. I guess your overall purchasing experience depends on who you deal with at this establishment. I’m giving a 2 star review, 1 star for todays owner and 4 stars for the owner who is a gentleman and creates a positive buying experience. I will be exploring all my options instead of this being my go to, long term relationship business based on my experience today."
"If you take scrap gold here be prepared for them not to tell you the weight of your gold and then offer you 45% of the value. I wish someone reviewed before I went. Will never go back. People are having hard time right now and its just more of sticking it to the little guy. She said it costs alot to melt gold...Be aware. *update* I spoke with Gene on the phone after my experience in the store and he was very helpful in making it right. I really appreciate a business owner taking the time for his customers. And would not hesitate to recommend Oxford to anyone that asks."
"I have been a customer of Oxford for many years and have always received exceptional service and fair prices from them. However, the other day my wife, who is not from here and has never sold gold or purchased gold except for at retail prices, went in to sell some of her old scrap gold jewelry and I was in utter disbelief at what they offered her. Maybe it's because the price of gold is currently quite high, or maybe it was because she wasn't a local, but forty percent of current scrap prices is unacceptable. I understand that they need to make something off of what they purchase but for them to take sixty percent of the value is just not right. I will probably give them another chance, but if that is their standard cut that they take then I will be selling my gold somewhere else."
"I have been here three times and I would like to know a different place to go to in Anchorage...there is just something missing because they do not provide a simple quote for what they are buying...I sold gold scrap for years and the place I used in CA always gave the latest price per gram/ounce for 14K or sterling so I always got a rough estimate of how much the scrap buyer was making. Oxford does not do this and I think they are taking a big margin. So if Oxford is evaluating I want to see an answer for ounce spot gold at $1190, 1/2 ounce of 14K gold or 14 grams and GIVE A PRICE FOR WHAT YOU WOULD PAY"
